Thread: Kaolla's Poll of Tanned Cuties

Hina let me off the hook on the polls, and he'd mentioned something about this, so here it is, your poll of tanned cuties. Our candidates are Kaolla Su (of course) Ku Fei, Nyamo, Zazie Rainyday, and Mana Tatsumiya. They're cute. They're tan. They're deadly -- well, okay, maybe Nyamo isn't deadly, but she's like a tanned Shinobu, which gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Darkly Cute", so vote for your favorite, and let us know why your bronzed baby is the best.

Right. In other threads and at various other times I have professed why I like tanned girls so much, without really getting an answer and using it as an excuse to post tasty pictures. As far as the poll goes, crikes, you've put me in a tough position

Ku Fei is a master of her art, likes meat buns and plays the "slightly-deranged foreigner" role Kaolla is famous for in Love Hina in the newer series Negima. Perhaps not as clever as Kaolla, but looks fantastic in a swimsuit. She's therefore got my vote.

Zazie is also quite proficient at what she does. Another tanned girl with exceptional agility and good hand-eye co-ordination. Nowhere near as loud as Kaolla, but looks fantastic in a swimsuit. She's therefore got my vote.

Mana. Wow. So she's as sociable as Zazie, who cares? Skilled fighter and exceptional marksman, she's a true mercenary, willing and able to take on dangerous tasks that'll pay sufficiently (in the manner of Kitsune, I shouldn't wonder). Rally Vincent-alike, a sort of Motoko with guns. Not as sociable as Kaolla, but looks fantastic in a swimsuit. She's therefore got my vote.

Nyamo learns to cook from Shinomu, but has a much better voice Other than that, long-lost twin. Her song can calm rampaging chelonians, so she's handy if that situation ever comes about, as it will some point in your life. Not interested in turtles in the same ways as Kaolla, but looks fantastic in a swimsuit. And a leaf bikini. And a sarong. She's therefore got my vote.

I think you can see where I'm going with this.

so hina, you couldnt choose ONE, you had to take the WHOLE LOT of them? geez.

nyamo gets my vote. she's the frist anime character i ever drew without tracing (i was 13ish at the time. therefore lazy enough to cheat on drawing) and that started me on being somewhat decent at my art now.

oh, and nyamo's CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE.

I merely gave reasons as to why each would get my vote. They all have my vote. Just that Kaolla rules all

Um, Hina, your argument sounds something like:

Hina: Nyamo looks great in a leaf bikini, so I clearly cannot choose the tanned cutie in front of me -- but Mana has big . . .GUNS, so I clearly cannot choose the tanned cutie in front of you. Kaolla is from Molmol, a foreign country, exotic and alluring, so I clearly cannot choose the tanned cutie in front of me -- but Ku is ALSO a foreigner, and good at martial arts, and also looks good in a swimsuit, so I clearly cannot choose the tanned cutie in front of you --

Amma: Clearly, you have a dizzying ecchi collection --




Mana gets my vote, though I have to admit, its mostly by association -- the whole tanned gun toting 'Toko thing, as you might have guessed. She was barely in the first Negima anime, and I'm not far enough into the manga to have seen any development for her yet. I'd like to get back into the manga, and I'm not picky about reading everything in order, so if anyone can suggest a good starting point for a would-be Mana fan, 'twould be most appreciated.

In the meantime, Mana wins on the basis of sheer sex appeal I guess one could say its a matter of aesthetic. There's just something about girls with long, dark hair, and either really pale or really tan skin that just does it for me There is a bit more to it, of course, even with the little I know -- I like her mysterious personality, and the element of danger. I can't stand the whole fake "tough girl" stereotype, but Mana is the genuine article. I imagine her and Black Lagoon's Revy sitting down together to talk shop about guns, killing, maiming, etc.

And the whole guns instead of the usual swords is a nice twist, too. There's this general perception that swords are somehow more honorable, more chivalrous -- that they take more skill to use, and hearken from a kinder, gentler age. I LUUUUOVE swords, don't get me wrong, but imho, the mythos around them simply isn't true. There's nothing kind or gentle about getting your head chopped off, or knocked in with a mace or war hammer -- a few of the sword's "kinder, gentler age" contemporaries.

And I don't think swords necessarily require more skill to use. Some people argue that it doesn't take any ability to pull a trigger. Well, it doesn't really take much technical ability to take a sword and prod or hack somebody with it, either. But to use either weapon, and use them WELL, ah, that is a completely different matter. Both have their own highly developed skill sets, and in the hands of a master, both classes of weapon are more than simple killing tools. They are graceful -- elegant. And like a beautiful woman -- deadly

I was the first AnimeBee to vote for Kū Fei (hm, wouldn't it be more proper to write her name in pinyin?).

I perceive Fei-chan as a very nice girl. So what if she is something of a baka, if only she has the patience to teach me Chinese. And she is by far the sexiest girl of this poll in my eyes.


Nyamo comes as a close second with a rather different combination of qualities. Give her more panels in the manga, maybe she could have captured my heart. But to tell you the truth, I would rather chat with Fei than have the right to remain silent with Nyamo. I do not feel like I know her the way I know the rest of the LH girls.

Zazie might be the third if I knew anything about her.

This is a tough one for me too.

Suu-sama obviously has my vote. Tan, energetic, smart, loves food, compassionate. What needs to be said more?

The other thing is though, that I *have* to vote for Mana too. 'Adult', the mysterious silent type, determined, still slightly a child inside and a gunslinger.

Not someone who knows point and click adventures but a real gunslinger. Now that I can appreciate. Aside from the technology itself, I hate guns. Stupid weapons. Feeling the muscles and veins rip as your blade crashes against the spinal column and the blood splatters in your face might not be as romantic as people think it is, but at least you need some degree of skill and adds a little personal touch to it.

After reading this, yeah. All girls look good in swimsuit, which I suppose is a plus for any girl, but I'd have to say that Mana looks the best and then Suu-sama. Though I have to make an honorary mention to Konoe Konoka. She, together with how she acts and is, is probably one of the better things you'll be most likely to ever encounter in a swimsuit.

Ku has a personality halfway between suu and mana, which makes her perfect.

therefore i vote for her, plus i tend to favor those who are weapons and don't need to carry them.

I'd have to go with the only one I know. Su.

I wish I'd read enough of Negima to find out more about Zazie. She looks to be waaaay more intriguing than some of the other 'filler' characters that dot the class I somehow knew Nyamo would figure high in your list should you join this poll. Something about the haircut, is it? Or the shyness?

Ku Fei is alarmingly sexy, I'll give you that. One of the chapter pics of her in the early books features both her and Chao in 'china dresses' (as danbooru would say) and they look delicious She'd have the patience, sure, but would demand payment in kind

Your logic is flawless and your answer quite correct, but you need to know your subject area. I recommend studying the ASR, LH books 2, 10 and 13, Love Hina, El Hazard, Negima, Gunsmith Cats, MagiPoka, Bleach, Ai Yori Aoshi, Secret of Blue Water and the like very closely. They all come highly recommended

yeah, why ISNT rally up on this poll EH?!...wait, this is tanned cuteis not tanned beauties. mmmmm, rally....CAN I HAVE YOUR SHELBY?!??!?!?!?

I'm guessing here, and think that there may be two possible reasons. One, looking at the poll options listed above, it appears we are voting solely on the tastiness of Akamatsu's tanned goddesses, not Sonoda's Two, space constraints. To list all my favourites would require more than one poll

You make it sound like I'm undecided There's so much about your quote that's so right though. The way I see it, Kaolla's got far more going for her than even this strong rank of competitors.

Doesn't mean I'd kick any of them outta the bunk though...

Mana on the basis of sex appeal? I love a girl who knows how to handle a weapon, especially one who won't let you go off half-cocked. As mentioned, Rally Vincent from Gunsmith Cats also fits in to the "tanned gals with guns" niche quite well, and I was readily reminded of her when I first encountered Mana. As hot as Mana undeniably is though, I'd still wish for a Mr. Merkaba on my side in a fight
