I'm a tad more easygoing than most, and if people want to include a few words in, that's fine - especially if it's considered practice for a certain Japanese language course. Knowing a secondary language isn't necessarily a bad thing.

If, however, someone spouts off Japanese to the point that they don't have the common sense to "turn it off" when talking to normal people, well.... let's hope they have some sense knocked into them soon.

Oh, entirely possible.... with the exception of native Japanese and Okinawans, of course. Full Asian descent includes all the people whose lineage is tied to the continent of Asia, and as Katajainen pointed out, also includes the peoples of Central and West Asia.

But for easy purposes, I'll use the standard "Asian" - East and Southeast Asian descent.

And the answer? Entirely possible. I'm a cousin to one of them. He commonly spouts Japanese words, even though they have little to no use within daily life - as in, only 2 other people know half of what he's spouting off in the first place.

Also note, however, is the issue of how critical the need for Japanese is. Speaking random Japanese when no one else speaks it is worlds apart from using Japanese for practical purposes.

It's the Chinese. Epically known for their counterfeit and knockoff capabilities. I do believe there was an article floating about that described China's hairties being made out of used condoms....

The government I'm still not surprised at, either. For one, it's quite close to being totalitarian [no limits to governmental power and authority]. Second, it is a fact that China's economic girth is already gargantuan.. but the real issue here is the expertise needed to develop such a thing.

Sure, China does have its professionals.... it might just be me though, but there sure don't seem to be that many of them. [Prolonged effects of the Cultural Revolution, p'raps?] Hence, the "All Your Source Code Are Belong To Us" article - a quick way to discover technological secrets without having to innovate and figure them out on its own.

And then there's the hypocrite-ness combined with the hubris that results in the pirated things that clearly come from elsewhere [most of the time, usually Japan], as in the train and the anime series. Basically the logic of "We need to improve our stuff, so let's co copy off of someone else's and claim it as our own!" While being a VERY oversimplified progression, it's probably a good approximation.

And for laughs, apparently they have legislation protecting these copyrights in the first place. WTF?
