    Ask an Asian

    Parody threads FTW.

Ask away on stuff about Asians *in general*. I might be one myself, but that doesn't necessarily mean I know all there is to know. Oo

So if I can answer, I gladly will. If I don't, I'll just spout off a Confucianism for you to gnaw on. And if you're really off the wall, there's old man Konfuciuz for you.

If it's fresh though, I believe some people use it as headwear....

All I'll say is it's in how you use it.

That or hit up Eastern medicine for some extra oomph.

Finally, something I can drone on and on about.

At first glance, most people might just see it as a fricken huge statue that resembles a robot. Big whoop to them. But to the right people, it's the embodiment of so much more. Some might view it as a testament to how successful the Gundam series is. Seriously, 30 years since its debut and it's STILL going strong. [If you need proof, the latest installment is Gundam 00 - series finished up earlier this year, but there's still the promise of a movie coming out sometime *next* year.]

Yet still, some people witness it as a very VERY ambitious building project. Pretty much anyone who's constructed a Gundam model kit knows. It's the thrill of getting to build a mobile suit from the components and seeing it stand in all its epicry. Sure, the rest of us do well enough with the 1:100 scale models, but the team that created the 1:1 scale statue.... they fricken LIVED out a dream that quite a few Gundam fans would ever hope to realize. [Building a Gundam... as opposed to actually going behind the controls and piloting one.]

Still another view on this is that it's Japan and their aptitude to build stuff, even if what they build isn't all that practical. Unless some other place has banded together to make a detailed statue on this scale, I'd say Japan is the first place to have completed such an endeavor. One can only wonder how many engineers worked on that thing, and I'd rather not get started on the sheer price tag of such a project in the first place.

Even so, the very basic idea of the life-size Gundam Statue is the act of taking an idea and translating it into a tangible, full-sized representation in the real world.

They're a staple of most anime and manga, they're based on Meiji-era military uniform, and the women's uniforms are the garb of Japanese schoolgirls.

... I can't help but feel that I'm speaking for a certain Groper-kun when answering this.

Well, most of you know Tsunderes are initially uptight, cold, and in some cases, even violent when you first get to know them. However, for all those traits, that's just a mere front, a shield they put up when they find themselves uncomfortable.

Get past the shell though, and you'll find a WONDERFUL companion in them, though. [Not exactly foolproof, but very likely.] They drop their facade and turn into great people to be around.

    It's the spectacles.

Of course, there's nothing stopping a Tsundere from also being a Meganekko, right?
