Last night I watched "Gelato (Ice Cream)", the sixth episode of the first season of the "Gunslinger Girl" anime. GG is one of the best Japanese animated series I have seen so far: slow-paced when it comes to plot, but amazingly atmosphere-intensive. On the 29th of December last year, I bought a few used comics albums, including the three volumes of "Le Monde d'Edena" by Moebius that were translated into Finnish as "Moebius: Jean Giraudin kootut fantasiat" ...
My AnimeB diary has been at a halt for an exceptionally long time. While this does coincide with an exceptionally quiet period on the discussion board, I do not see a strong connection between these two things. It was months ago that I failed to report my finished comics here. Subsequently, I almost ceased to read print comics, and the time I spend reading novels and other books has plummeted as well. Instead I have visited two domestic anime-related conventions since Midsummer, made ...

Last Friday (17th June 2011) I finally finished reading "Love + Sex with Robots. The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships" (henceforth abbreviated as "LSwR"; ISBN 978-0-06-135975-0), a book written by David Levy. My primary reason to read Levy's study was indeed manga-related: curiosity triggered by Clamp ...
Already more than a month since my last blog entry? I have read stuff in the meantime, though. I should clear some of the backlog. *** Over three weeks ago, I returned to "L’Anneau des Castellac", a Johan and Peewit adventure by Peyo (in Finnish translation: "Järvilinnain sormus", ISBN 951-1-05188-1; seemingly not available in English). This album must be one of the earliest Franco-Belgian comics outside the Asterix/Lucky Like/Tintin triangle that ...

No-life is full of surprises. On Wednesday, I ended up watching "Fratello (Siblings)", the first episode of the first season of "Gunslinger Girl" (2003--04), in good company. The anime did not impress me quite as much as the AMV I presented in my last diary entry ("The Order of Bad End?"), which tells us something about the skills of the music video's maker. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing more GG, and reading the original comic would be good, too. As depressing ...
