  1. "I See Plenty of Sunshine in the Sky"

Screw recent bad luck on the dating front, at least I am quite happy with the June weather we have had here.

Wearing jeans and a T-shirt, carrying a light jacket or hoodie in my backpack just in case it could get windier and chillier in the late evening, I feel I am getting exactly what one can expect from a Finnish summer. Most probably weeks of wearing knee-pants will follow, but by then this apartment will get too hot for me to sleep well. So in a sense, this is one of the best ...

  2. damn it, Heskey!

by , 8 Jun 2010 at 3:00 am (The 'nana bunch)
as referenced in a previous blog entry, England's pre-World Cup captain is injured. There's always something that comes along to muck up a Cup campaign.

What I didn't mention was that Emile bloody Heskey was involved.

now, this would come as no surprise to any England fan, including those fans of his current club Aston Villa. Heskey is as strong as an ox. Trouble is, I also seem him as being as slow as an ox and as clumsy too :/

  4. The captain's curse

by , 6 Jun 2010 at 3:00 am (The 'nana bunch)
Fabio Capello was moaning about a curse yesterday... the England captaincy curse.

When he got the manager's job, Capello held "auditions" for the captaincy in which he tried out 4 senior players in the lead role in four consecutive friendlies, after which he'd make up his mind. John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard all got the nod. Of the midfield possibles, neither Gerrard or Lampard performed particularly badly, nor did they really excel in the ...

  5. yep, gotcha, thought that... OK, that was a surprise!

FIFA's website for the World Cup has all the stuff you'd usually expect: team news, standings, lots of tables, recent results and regular updates. Standard fare. They're also running polls too...

now, you know my view on opinion polls. They're flawed by their very nature. They throw up some strange results sometimes. An accumulation or concerted effort on the part of a particular group can skew a generally held perception of a result, in much the following way:
