Last night I watched "Gelato (Ice Cream)", the sixth episode of the first season of the "Gunslinger Girl" anime. GG is one of the best Japanese animated series I have seen so far: slow-paced when it comes to plot, but amazingly atmosphere-intensive. On the 29th of December last year, I bought a few used comics albums, including the three volumes of "Le Monde d'Edena" by Moebius that were translated into Finnish as "Moebius: Jean Giraudin kootut fantasiat" ...
After my travails with my MacBook last week, I came to the harrowing conclusion that I needed to properly archive my images. If the machine wasn't fixed I'd have struggled a little bit, as I'd have had to pay out for a new Mac to restore to, since the only copy of my extensive image collection (I say extensive, it may not be massive but there's several thousand, at least) was only on a Time Machine backup. In Finland, "Karin" has been published only since last year, and I think I recently saw a new volume at a convenience store. However, I am reading (barely) used books, sold to me by a young manga fan who would rather have money for some new video game than keep this part of his ...
...or 'Life's A Beach'. Summer's here. Might as well make the best of a bad situation. Instead of celebrating a wonderful sartorial invention of the Fifties when its on its way out for the year as we've managed in the past, why not break out some buxom (or not-so-busty) bikini beauties while the weather's here to enjoy them? Now, many of you who've had the misfortune to speak to me for any length of time should know that I loathe summer. As a season ...
