    You've got to laugh...

Just when you think things couldn't get any funnier... over at the French Football Federation, the new national team manager Laurent Blanc has effectively suspended the entire 23-man squad that France took to this summer's World Cup in South Africa.

He has asked that none of the team taken to the tournament be available for selection for their next game against Norway.

This is only a friendly, and apparently the shamed 23 come ...

The Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan lifted the ban after the Nigerian Football Federation promised to disband and rebuild ...

Football needs to introduce goal line technology of some kind, at least, so the outcomes of important games don't turn on contentious decisions.

Fans up and down the UK, pundits, players and even superstar managers have advocated this as a leap forward for the game. Only one person in world football, it seems to me, holds this idea in any sort

  5. 2nd round, you're 'avin' a laugh!

Incidentally, here's my alternative take on Tuesday's England result. Just in case I'm English, and optimism doesn't come easy!

    Bah. Just... bah.

England had not failed to make it past the group stage of a World Cup tournament since our first appearance back in 1950 (OK, '58 we lost a playoff, so that doesn't count. Still a long time ). To be honest with you, I am not that surprised we didn't stir ourselves for this and made a complete ...
