    Lots of things to report this month. It's been a doozy.

    We're hoping to be able to give everyone an update on a regular basis from now on. With any luck, this update will become a monthly thing

    Forums

    First off, everyone received a mass mail from the board staff, asking for ideas and feedback regarding the current state and future of the website.

    I have to say the response to this has been very helpful indeed, and a far better response than I'd hoped. Shows that people really do care about the place and want it to succeed.

    Following on from the input in the Help thread, the SSF discussions and talks amongst the staff, we've settled on a new focus for the site: Comedy anime & manga. These sections are sitting at the top of the board, awaiting your posts to fill 'em out. Get cracking!

    We have an Upcoming Releases forum, so those with their ear to the ground can keep us up to date with new developments, new shows and new volumes on the horizon. Even if they're just speculation...

    Along with this there's sections for Current Series (2010), and Older Series (2009 and older). We can talk about the next big thing, the current hit or remember favourites from yesteryear.

    To that end, all of the Love Hina and Negima threads and Brigades have been collected in Ken Akamatsu Works. This could be reworked if people ask for it.

    There are several new prefixes available for you to use when creating threads in the Comedy section.
    • [Anime] - For discussions about anime series. Straight forward
    • [Manga] - For discussions about manga, animated or yet to be animated
    • [Polls] - All polls concerning anime and manga can stay in their section
    • [IMG] - Shows generate a lot of official and unofficial artwork, so collect them in an IMG thread

    If you think we'd benefit from more prefixes, please let us know

    Oh, and for them series that aren't intentionally funny, we've hopefully catered for some of those as well, in Genre Specific.

    Moderators

    With the introduction of new forums for discussions on our new focus, we've needed to shuffle the staff around somewhat.

    Unfortunately one of our moderators left us earlier in the month. Miroku's given up the white cloak of power but will now be a BMod of the NBB.

    Making the jump to moderator is Betong Åsna. Donkey knows the ropes and has moderated at several levels here before, so I'm sure the job won't be beyond him.

    We will be shuffling people into control of the new sections and redistributing a few forums among the existing mods. Please bear with us!

    New Position

    In an effort to spruce the place up, we've also appointed Ebenezer as our first Skin Mod.

    The current admin team is either inexperienced with vBulletin skinning (panzy and me) or just doesn't have the time to put in to getting new skins made up (Style). Personally, I haven't got a hope. Design-wise I'm dreadful Hopefully FB will provide a bit more creativity.

    Q2 Awards

    I was going to say "Well done to all those who won Awards this quarter", but I'm not sure at this juncture if they're still going ahead.

    Our next host is yet to be decided. Stay tuned!

    Contests?

    We're experimenting with the idea of running contests for something other than forum points and bragging rights. Watch this space!

    Oh, and we're now just plain ol' Animeb.com.

      Thats great. Good to see betong being a mod again (even if he'll socialize everything and drive us into commienism!), sad to see Miroku stepping down.

      I hope you do something too with the other forums... I have no interest in anime

      Are we gonna get skins featuring FB's artz?

      now when you mean "new" do you mean new to america, or new to japan? i mean, some of us (myself really) dont follow whats going on in japan a whole lot, so new stuff is kinda old when it gets to me.

      Recently the USA has gotten really good at catching the Japanese trends, even simulcasting stuff online legally. Or at least so I've seen. No longer waiting two, three four...five years for things to be licensed here. :O

      Just wanted to say that I think the result of the hard work people have done looks great, and I'm thrilled to return to this new era for our forum after a great stay on the Faroe Islands Good job everyone!

      For all you people with inferior optical senses, I'll be making, at first, 2 light skins. VB sucks ass these days, so really all that can be done until they stop hiring 6 year olds is a bit of a recolour and some minor shifting of stuff.

      The skins will be identical, one variant blue, one variant red. They will likely use many of the forum status icons and such of the default vb skin, for the simple reason that the skins should be easier to make, and quicker, but also, future colour variants can be made without having to alter a great deal. Which means if for some unknown reason I die in a horrible tax fraud accident, that even your inferior yellow masters will be able to potentially live up to the role my mighty shoulders must bear.

      I will in future be working on a dark variant, with several other colours to come at a later date. I've already got someone to work on banners as soon as I get them the dimensions needed, and in addition there will be rotating banners, so the banner will be different every time the page is loaded. If anyone requests that there be pink skins, I will punch them in the soul.

      Also, you are all now required to petition I be given mod rights of my mighty empire. That mexican needs to have his claws taken out of it as soon as possible.

      Sounds like a plan, FB Challenge is getting a workable skin, then te colour changes will keep things fresh and give people plenty of choice that's not really available at the moment

      Hope we're getting some skins soon, but I think his return from Egypt will see a pickup in the skins thing

      What would you have us do with the other subforums? A couple of things have shifted about, but if you have any more suggestions, then let us know

      Momo's got the idea, but you can run with this how you feel is best. If your approach to an anime is to follow it only when it is released in the US, then a release date of this year would make it a current or upcoming series We could get some mixups and some disagreements, but we'll sort those out

      Doesn't have to come from a staffer, but it wouldn't hurt

      The way I read it, everyone can have a crack at a banner or two (dozen). Chey's more than welcome to stick her oar in If the rotation script works okay, we'll change the banners as regularly as people want to send 'em in.

      he's not very forthcoming with details, is he? Perhaps the artist is nervous and would like to gauge reaction before revealing themselves
