Yanimebi: A small volcanic island in the Korea Strait, a tiny bit nearer the Japanese island of Hirado than the Korean island of Jeju-do.
The length of Yanimebi itself, from west-southwest to east-northeast, is 16,6 km. The island is dominated by the volcano Mebi-san (1098 m, dormant since 1772). In the western end of Yanimebi is Urashima Bay, an excellent natural harbor. And in the bottom of the bay lies a lively cosmopolitan community, Port Urashima.
This geographical entity is being created for use in roleplaying campaigns, fics, and other things produced by or related to AnimeB.

My thanks to Tyroki, BobCat, Okazaki Tomoya, Pzycho Leech, Sakurazaki and Hinarei for their various contributions.
Inspiring factors for Yanimebi and Port Urashima include:
* the AnimeB community, including the discussion board, the Shoutbox, the wiki, the IRC channel, and some echoes elsewhere on the web
* some works by Hergé, most notably "The Blue Lotus" (1934 - 35/1936/1946)
* some works by Hugo Pratt, most notably "Corto Maltese in Siberia" (1974 - 75)
* some works by Ken Akamatsu, most notably "Love Hina" and "Negima! Magister Negi Magi"
* a 1953 Uncle Scrooge story by Carl Barks, known in various sources as "Hawaiian Hideaway", "The Menehune Mystery" and "Uncle Scrooge's Private Island"
* "Four Branches of the Mabinogi", Welsh mythology from between 1060 and 1200 (fan works referring to the Korean MMORPG "Mabinogi", 2004, reminded me of its existence)
* the Shanghai International Settlement, China (1854 - 1943)
* the Concessions in Tianjin, China (1860 - 1947)
* Bristol Island, in South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, the British overseas territories (much of the geography of Yanimebi is based on very free interpretations of two satellite images of Bristol Island)
* some maps of western Greenland
* Budapest, Hungary
