Heya everyone, not in much of a mood for an introduction today (I'm sick and I feel terrible >.<) So this one's for you Z, Happy Birthday!
Darkest Corners: Awakening

A young man stirred in his hospital gurney as he slowly awoke, he clutched his head as he picked himself up and gently set his feet on the floor. Looking around, he noticed that the room was dismally empty, but more odd was the fact that the room itself looked as if the previous occupants had just gotten up and left; walking gingerly over to a counter, he reached out for a mug of coffee and was surprised to find that it was still hot, as if the person drinking it had been there not to long ago.
The man put his face in his hands as he tried to remember how he had ended up in this strange hospital, but in the end he could only come up with scattered memories, the only thing substantial he could come up with was a name, “Zet…” he mumbled to himself, “I guess its my name.” Zet poked his head out of the doorway to the room and called out, but no one responded and after 5 minutes of waiting, he decided to venture out of his room, grabbing a nearby scalpel as he went and began to walk down the hallway.
Zet felt a growing sense of unease as he ventured further down the hall, “Why is no one here…This is a hospital right?” he thought to himself as he poked his head into a random room and sighed as he found it as empty as the rest of the building. He eventually came to a group of windows with the blinds drawn in front of them, “Finally, something of use” he exclaimed as he flung open the blinds to the nearest window, only to fall back in shock at what he saw, the window was completely bricked shut on the other side of the glass.
“W…what the hell?” he stammered as he picked himself off the floor to get a better look at the window, “What kind of hospital is this?” No sooner had those words left his mouth, the lights began to flicker, or to say more accurately, the florescent bulbs began to fill with an opaque liquid that wasn’t quite thick enough to block out the light completely. Soon after, the walls themselves began to writhe as words began to carve themselves into the plaster, drawing blood as they did.
Zet was so horrified by the images in front of him that he almost failed to notice a sudden wetness on his forehead, reaching up and pulling his hand back, he almost went into shock as he realized what was on his hand, “B…b…blood?” he managed to stammer before a loud scream rocked the hallway, causing the lights to shatter, sending a wave of blood crashing over Zet. But as quickly as the madness had begun, it simply ceased, as if nothing had ever happened, Zet shakily stood up and shook his head violently from side to side in an attempt to clear his head of the images that were now burned in.
Zet was torn from his mental battle by a loud metallic noise, looking up he noticed a human like shadow holding a long object at the end of the hall, just barely out of the light. Moving forward slowly he tentatively called out to the figure, but got no response causing him to move closer until he could clearly see the man. He looked haggard and as if he hadn’t slept in years, his matted hair covered his face and he was carrying an axe that bore crimson red splatters on its blade.
“So…someone was here after all” the man mumbled as he walked towards Zet slowly, dragging the axe along the floor as he did, “I knew it!” Zet looked at the man with a mixture of relief and fear, “Well, someone is here with me, but he’s freaking me out” he thought as the man moved even closer, “I knew someone else was here, how else could the music have started!” he yelled as he suddenly lunged at Zet, swinging the axe in a vicious arc causing him to dive to the left in order to avoid it.
As he rolled past, he lodged the scalpel he had picked up into the man’s leg, causing him to fall to one knee as he howled in pain. Seeing his chance for escape, Zet made a break for a door labeled Exit that was only a few feet away, the screams of the man followed close behind him, “Not that door you idiot!” he heard as he crashed into it, flinging it open and sending him flying through. Instead of landing on the floor and continuing to run, Zet found himself suddenly falling into an endless expanse of white, turning around in mid air, he saw the man looking down at him as he fell, barely hearing the words he spoke, “They always go through the door” he heard above the roaring wind in his ears, “Well boy, welcome to the Crossroads…”

I'm kinda reminded of Silent Hill a bit, with the creepy hospital... O_o

I'm reminded of Resident evil outbreak File 2.... Theres a Hospital and a guy with an axe, But at least there aren't any plants. Oo but Nice Work Zac.

Alright people, due to what I believe to be the collective laziness of those participating in the contest, I've decided to push the deadline for the contest back to October 31st. I hope this date is a little more manageable for you guys and the extra time will allow you to submit a great story.
oh... i shall ask again if my seperate thing counts.

Totally thought it was due to the 23rd.. I'm not even done yet, I'm only at the part where it gets freakyAlright people, get writing, submissions are due by Oct. 13th, and may the best twisted mind win.
