Chapter 1
(A/N: This is an AU of Megaman BN 3.)

Iino Hatsuhara sighed. He had been in this cell for more then a week, or at least that was his guess. He had sort of lost track of the time spent in there.

Even though he was a prisoner, and a test subject to boot, it was better then being alone in his cramped cell, where the only source of light came from a small lamp hanging overhead.

He was a prisoner of Dr. Wily, a notorious criminal thought deceased, or at least gone for good. But he was far from either of those fates, and the fact that he sat in a cell as a test subject was proof enough.

Iino didn’t exactly understand what Dr. Wily was trying to accomplish. The only parts he ever really understood were ‘net viruses, ‘cross fusion’, and something about ‘adaptability’. He had no real clue as to what they were trying to create, but he knew he couldn’t do anything about it.

Suddenly, the cell door opened, and a guard hauled Iino up, dragging him down the hallway leading out of the cell block. Iino idly wondered what test they were going to try this time.

He started to notice he was going down a different hallway then he was usually taken to. Iino hoped beyond hope that they weren’t going to get rid of him, as he had often feared.

When they reached their destination, Iino saw the wicked smile of Dr. Wily coming towards him.

“Just think boy, soon your going to help me become famous! My theories have been tested to the fullest of our abilities, and I think it will work!!” He motioned to the guard to place Iino in some type of containment tube, or that’s what it looked like at least.

Iino felt fear trickle through him, and it made him ask

“What are you going to do with me?!”

Wily cackled at the fear and terror in his voice. Then he stepped forward so his eyes were only inches away from Iino’s.

“I’m going to use your DNA to create the most power computer virus in the world! I’ve tried with several others, but only your DNA seems compatible.”

Iino didn’t like the sound of that, but he wasn’t able to resist as he was thrown into the tube, and soon, the bottom panel on it began to flash rapidly.

“The VNA converter is at full power Dr.!!” One of the lab techs shouted, as the noise the machine was generating began to grow. Iino was starting to feel a strange tingling all over his body.

Suddenly, red lights began to flash all over to lab. “What’s going on!!?” Shouted Dr. Wily, running over to one of the stations, slamming his fist down onto the screen several times.

The tingling sensation was increasing, and Iino suddenly noticed that his arms and feet were changing. A strange armor, or at least that’s what eh thought it was, was starting to appear over his entire body.

“The Zero Virus is merging with his DNA!! I-I can’t believe this!! He’s becoming a Navi!!”

Dr. Wily screamed, but Iino couldn’t hear him anymore. All he heard was a strange buzzing, and after a moment, a bright flash, emanating from the test chamber, lit the entire lab to a blinding level.

When the light faded, the test subject was gone. Wily almost went ballistic, ready to tear the lab apart in his rage. But then one of the lab stations began blinking. Turning to it, he saw the report it was giving, and smiled wickedly to himself.

“It’s a minor setback… but the virus is now in the net. This mistake may turn out to our advantage,… if we can merely capture… Zero VEXE.”

Lan Hikari raced along the sidewalk, doing his level best to get home as quick as he could. School was out for the summer, and he could do all the virus busting he wanted.

“LAN!! Are you trying to get yourself hurt?!” Megaman shouted, trying to bring some sense into his good friend. But, good to his nature, Lan ignored him.

“I can’t wait to get on the net!! We can finally bash all the viruses we want!”

Sighing, Megaman gave up and simply went to hoping Lan didn’t trip over something and go flying. Then he heard a soft beep, and he said

“Hey Lan, you just got some mail. One of them is from your dad, and the other is to all net users.” The first was uncommon, since Dr. Hikari’s job was so time consuming. The latter was a very common thing.

The first one was enough to get Lan to skid to a stop. “Open it up Mega! Hurry!”
Smiling, Megaman opened the file, and began to read it aloud to Lan.

“I will be coming home later today, so make sure you help your mom clean the house up. Oh, and I have a present for you. See you at dinner. Dad.”

Lan started jumping up and down with joy, and started racing home, going faster then he had been, so that he could let his mom know.

Since Lan was too busy to bother, Megaman decided to glance through the news e-mail.

Recently, the Net has been under attack by a new, and unknown, virus. The virus is classified as highly dangerous, and if spotted, it is advised any NetNavi or computer program evacuate immediately. The Virus has been given the name “Z” and it is rumored that it infects Navis instead of software. Please evacuate if you see this virus.

Megaman took a careful look at the image that had been sent along with the e-mail. This virus was definitely different, because it looked like an actual NetNavi. The only other defining factor was that it was a strange shade of purple.

“Wonder if we’ll see one of these…” He thought to himself, forgetting to let Lan take a look at it himself.

Iino slowly opened his eyes, or what should have been his eyes. Instead, it felt like he was looking through someone else’s.

Standing up, he looked around. He seemed to be in an isolated section of ACDC town’s netcity. There was no one in sight, but he could almost feel that someone was there with him.

“Don’t be afraid my friend, I am here to help.” A voice said, and Iino realized after a moment that it was coming from his body.

He looked down at himself, and gasped. He from his feet to as far up as he could see, and from what his hands could feel, for all practical purposes, he was a NetNavi.

“What’s happened to me…” he said, falling to the ground, his hands catching him from hitting his face into the net road.

This time, the voice seemed to come from within him. “I am Zero. I was intended to become a virus, but that part of me is gone. When my program merged with your DNA, it caused a fusion unlike any other. In a way, we are one and the same.

Iino couldn’t believe what he was hearing, and yet he couldn’t disbelieve it.

“Am I in your body?” He asked, wondering if that was the reason he looked like a NetNavi.

Yes, and no. We are both fully merged. Either of us can control the other’s body, or our own. Our spirits or entwined.” Zero told him, his voice reassuring Iino that he was safe.

So long as both of us live, we can help each other, and protect each other. But you are tired. Let me take the reigns for now, Iino Hatsuhara. Rest yourself, and I will find out where we are.

Iino nodded inwardly, and soon, he was gone, for a time. Resting in the recesses of the merged mind that he now shared.

Zero smiled lightly. “Don’t worry kid, I’ll get you home.”

A/N: Well, what do you guys think? Human + NetVirus to create a Hybrid NetNavi.
