You know I was thinking, isn't there a way to keep track of all the dammed name changes people make?

Like a version list on of usernames or a special feature which mass spams.. Erh, PMs people about a name change (you can enable that feature in your own CP of course and may even exclude people on certain criteria).

Isn't that an idea? Let me know what you think.

Could work I suppose, though as for "all the dammed name changes people make"..... that's kinda made moot in the fact that name-changes are GMod-and-up power only, and even then, there's three changes before a year-long ban on any further name change is allowed.

I do know there was the vBPlaza listing of purchased name changes, before the switchover to Mod-Power.

Yep, name change is a strictly rationed product nowadays.

There have been attempts to keep track of the name changes, but I believe a good number -- including my own latest one -- remain undocumented.

...whereas since the vBplaza changes the admins have been keeping a list

We have a list of people's name changes, and update that so we know how many changes they've had and how long it is before they can have their next one ^_^ Also, I believe GMods and up can view profile history in the ModCP, so that's sort of a tracker...

Didn't think it was all that useful for public consumption, Mr.A, so it's not in a public forum. We could have a vote on whether you want it posted in a thread though ^_^

vBplaza would list the name changes made prior to the change , but the option's been removed so you can't view the history, methinks Good thinkin' Z

Hey, you do not need to keep the public version real-time. Update even twice a year, but regularly, would be an improvement.

It was just that I had a hard time figuring out who the bleep some people were

And there's always been a little bit of fuzz about name changes. It seemed kind of normal to have some kind of automagical means of knowing these name changes. And you can create a piece of coding that accesses the site and updates the very first post when someone changes his or her name.

There is a tagging problem.

Actually this is kind of my point, these are all user inputs. We might as well expect users to guess what person would get what as a name next and ban them if they're not right <- Obviously flawed system.

That's why I vote for an automagical system of the site's inner workings itself

there is a system for it just it was never put into place

i think it was for the new vbbulliten was why

and we haven't moved to 3.8 or newer yet, so no automagical system is easy to implement
