Actually, cliffhangers is one way of making readers 'subscribe' to your story more. I'm a small time novelist and I always use this tactic at the end of almost every chapter to instill excitement to the readers especially on what will happen on the next chapter.

But I can also agree with you...I also hate waiting. Two weeks is kinda...long.
