I find variations quite common in a lot of anime/manga. Love Hina and Azumanga Daioh are exactly the same way. I guess they figured since the Library Island thing hasn't happened yet like it did in the anime. They'd have to make the party have a different meaning which turned into part of the plot for the episode.
