dunno, I was referring to the article about turning gay from watching Spongebob.
I, myself, don't believe a TV show will turn anyone gay or anything, but I do find the though pretty amusing I'll consider watching some more of it.

YES AND NO!!!! linguistically anime is just the japanese word for animation and as such applies to all animation from all countries . However ; we must not confuse linguistics with artistic movement . Say you look up Wagnerian in the dictionary it would probably say something such as "like or imitating Richard Wagner" but this does not do much to tell you what distinct style wagner developed or what it was. so they may try to take a visual aesthetic but that is afar cry from actually being anime.

There are some good American cartoons. Unfortunately, some are forgetting why Japanese anime is better than American Cartoons. Japanese anime doesn't focus mostly on comedy alone.
Some of the best Japanese anime series have the formula which combines drama, action, comedy, and adventure. One of the top anime series is Cowboy Beebop. It follows the formula well. Even, it has a surprise ending. Let's hope that America cartoon makers get their act together. They continue to think that most American cartoons are for children only. They have not still learn from the Japanese. Anime is for all ages. Still, the parents must remember that some Japanese anime series are solely made for a mature audience. For example, Cowboy Beebop is for mature audiences while Bleach is for teenagers, and adults. ![]() Last edited by susano; 29 Apr 2008 at 8:39 pm.. Reason: correccting a misspelling |

I like Futurama and some Southpark (Dog whisperer episode was a slap to modern parenting). Family Guy, Spongebob, and most Adult Swim on the other hand is entretaining but has little or no substance.
Overall however, I give the crown to King of the Hill for unmatched balance of entertainment and substance.

![]() I don't think anime is 'better' than American cartoons. I've enjoyed watching The Simpsons throughout my life, and things like South Park, Futurama, Family Guy and so on for a good part of it, just as I've enjoyed watching anime for a long time. Maybe there's more good anime, but that's only because they generally feel forced to follow a plot, meaning they have to end. They have yet to learn from American cartoons that if you hit on a funny formula, and it keeps being funny, stopping it isn't always the best thing to do.

American Cartoons stink.
Stuff by Seth Green are the worst ones! (my opinion) |
