"Scan Funnies"?
In 2006, Zhang the Legend (a.k.a. Tim) posted links to a re-worded three-page excerpt from Negima, entitled "Bitchslap", or "Yue/Nodoka Yuri". Only that incident really opened my eyes for the endless possibilities of a scanner and a graphics editor combined with a nasty-minded comics fan.
Since then, learning about the international scanlations community has widened my horizons, as I have reported in my blog thread. However, the Wikipedia entry on scan(s)lations does not seem to mention the art of re-wording comics, editorial cartoons and the like. Is there any terminology for that kind of activity? Can anyone provide useful links or further information?

I've heard the term "Fakesubs" or "Trolls" used in anime fansub... This would probably not apply to scanlations, though...
Never read to much manga online, but I've bumped into some of these "Scan Funnies", sometimes hilarious
