Download Sai http://detstwo.com/pub/saia5-eng/ (guides on the page too) it support scroll tablets... i had some problems with Adobe Photoshop and my scroll tablet so i was very happy to find sai even in a english version

Open Canvas is more useful in drawing. It's made to detect the pressure sensitivity of the tablet. (In other words if you press down harder on the tablet it will apply a darker layer of whatever) So it's sort of more specifically made for the Wacom tablets.
So yeah it favours drawing stuff on a tablet basically.

Well I don't have a tablet, so using the touchpad of a laptop actually made it harder to use.
