A Tale of Spells and Materia. (Negima / Final Fantasy 7 Crossover)

A Tale of Spells and Materia.

A Negima/Final Fantasy 7 Crossover.

I decided to do a Final Fantasy 7 and Negima crossover and I want to put it on FanFiction.net but I don't know whether to put it in the Negima section or the Final Fantasy 7 section, in case I did put it in the FF7 section I made some character notes for the Negima Characters so those who are not familiar with the series could still enjoy it.

So I would like to hear your opinions on it, what you think of the story and where you think it should go.

And any helpful criticisms are welcomed, I'm still editing it.

A Tale of Spells and Materia.

That’s right a crossover of Negima and Final Fantasy 7, beware plenty of Sephiroth bashing.

Cloud: So Sephiroth, you scared?

Sephiroth: Why should I be?

Cloud: The author of this story is an Aerith-fanboy.

Sephiroth: So? What you think he’s still sore over that little event in FF7?

Cloud: Well, he set the timeline up before you killed Aerith so we know he prefers for her to be alive but that goes with the whole fanboy thing I guess, he had you here in the part before the story but when I look at it, the soonest you would make your appearance is sometime after chapter five so we know he has something planned.

Sephiroth: I think I could take him if he shows up.

QMW *appears behind Sephiroth and Cloud*: Under normal circumstances you would be able to beat the crap out of me, but this is my story and I hold power over all that are in it.

Sephiroth: Get out of my sight.

QMW: Make me.

*Sephiroth reaches for his sword*

Sephiroth: WHAT?!

QMW: *Smirk* I felt that you didn’t need your sword here. Also you are as powerful as a three month old kitten.

Sephiroth: ...

QMW: Also here I can shoot lightning.

Sephiroth: Crap. *Takes off running*

QMW: THAT’S RIGHT, RUN YOU LIL’BITCH RUN!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA! *Takes off in pursuit*

Cloud: ...

QMW: *Stops* Oh, I almost forgot. Hey Cloud, would you mind doing the disclaimer?

Cloud: Not at all.

QMW: Thanks. *Takes off running again*

Cloud: The author doesn’t own Negima or Final Fantasy 7, if he did then you would have seen more scenes like this.

QMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMWQMW

It was an average day in the life of the boy teacher, from waking up in Asuna’s bed to almost being late to class and thus was running like it was doomsday. And class was normal as well, same old unruly behavior from his students that ended with them playing their favorite game of “Molest the Teacher”.

So things were pretty normal for Negi Springfield but if you knew him well enough then you knew things don’t stay “normal” for long.

And soon enough things would change.

Negi was sitting on a bench not to far from the school he taught at.

Just then he heard someone call his name. “Negi-Bozo, what are you doing here?”

“I was told by the headmaster to met with an associate of his here about something magic related.”

“Who?”

“I don’t know yet.”

“Do you want me to wait with you?”

“I’ll be fine on my own.” Negi said with a polite smile so as not to sound offensive.

“Re-e-e-e-ally...” Asuna stared at Negi, even though he wasn’t trying to sound rude she was still a little offended, even though she denies it up and down she really does care about the boy and his well-being.

Before Negi could say anything someone called out “You must be Negi-Sensei.” Turning around to see a stern looking man that appears to be in his early thirties wearing a black business suit. Said dude extended a hand.

“Yes, and you must be the headmaster’s associate.” Negi shook his hand and the stood up.

“Yes I am. My name’s Neecard.” The man know identified a Neecard handed Negi a folder. “There are certain matters that need to be discussed.” Neecard took a look at Asuna and finished with “Somewhere more private.”

Negi response was “If you have anything to say you can say it in front of Asuna-San, she is one of my Ministels.”

Neecard took a look around before he continued. “Very well, in the folder are the details. But to sum it up in an area near the World Tree a portal has opened. You are to go and seal it. And before you ask we are unsure of were it leads to if anywhere.”

Negi scratched his head “Why me?”

“It’s a long story but again to sum this up, years ago your father the Thousand Master battled a high ranking demon, it’s power was great but in the end the Thousand Master won, the area they did battle at was a hidden shrine dedicated to the World Tree. This is the same point were the portal has opened. Because the shrine already radiated magic it was somewhat unstable, after the battle is only got worse and with these most recent events it has become completely unstable.” Neecard took a minute to let what he said settle with the boy.

Asuna decided to speak up. “I’ve been here a while now and I’ve never heard about a shrine for the World Tree.”

“Neither have I.” All three turned to see a young blonde girl standing just a few feet away.

Negi was the first to say something “M-Master!”

Neecard on reflex reached for his gun before the girl continued “That won’t do you any good, thanks to this disturbance I have regained most of my power.” A malevolent smirk crossed her face.

“This area has been secured so that no one would be able to eavesdrop on this conversation.”

“Please, like a few weakling mages would be able to stop me.”

“Are you Evangeline A.K. McDowell?”

“What’s it to you?”

“The headmaster told me not to bother you, but your help in this matter would be appreciated.”

“Really, is that so?”

Impatiently Neecard asked “Will you help or not?”

Evangeline’s response was “Fine, but it’ll cost you.”

“We can negotiate the fee later. My intelligence tells me that the imbalance of power is growing more and more with each passing hour.”

Negi deciding to rejoin the conversation asked “Again why is it me that has to seal the portal?”

“Well, we are in more need of your magic power. Only the magic similar to the Thousand Master can seal the portal he created.”

“I’ve been here for 15 years so why is this the first I’m hearing of a shrine?” Evangeline was a little annoyed for not knowing sooner.

“This happened before the “School Attending Hell” curse. And the shrine was hidden because we knew from the get-go that it has become unsafe.”

Evangeline still in a fowl mood asked “So why didn’t you tell Nagi about it, when he was still around?”

“You would have to ask the headmaster about that; I’ve told you all that I know. But now we need to get going.” And with that the others followed closely behind Neecard.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In order to keep anyone from entering the shrine a magical blockade was erected. Neecard said a quick incantation and the blockade dissolved.

After arriving at the shrine inside at the center of the room was a swirling silver pool of light.

“All we need to do now is channel Negi’s magic into this portal. Evangeline would you help him channel it, all you have to do is direct the magic generated from his body to the center of this portal.

“Before I do that I would like to see Bouya try it by himself.” Evangeline turned to Negi, curious of how far he’s come.

Negi knew what to do, it was a lot like controlling Kai but this was a little different. Negi knew it wouldn’t be easy. There was a reason that mages don’t make use of harnessing pure magic power, Kai was one thing but magic was a lot messier.

Negi took a minute to relax himself after all, he would need a clear mind to do this.

After a few breaths Negi raised his hand and pointed it open-palmed at the center of the vortex.

After Negi began to focus and followed that by calling on his magic by use of his release key. “Rastel Maskil Magister” and with those words Negi forced the magic out of his hand and into the portal and that’s when everything went haywire.

Negi released too much power too quickly causing a large scale shift in the already dangerous imbalance of magic, this was followed by a blinding light coming forth and minutes later everything was normal with one exception...Negi was gone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Negi was passed out in a place other than the shrine he was in a few minutes ago. Moments later he came to.

Negi took a look around his surroundings which reminded him of the ghettos he’s only seen in pictures. Never in his life has he been to such a place; coupled with all those horror stories he’s heard about such environments was enough to scare the young welsh boy senseless.

Noticing others in the area he was also quick to notice looks of tension and fear. Negi quickly forgot his own troubles and asked the nearest person what was going on. After all as a mage inspiring to earn the title of Magister Magi it was Negi’s responsibility to intervene in a situation if there was a threat to the people. “A group called AVALANCHE as of yesterday blew up a Mako Reactor, they planted a bomb at the core, and this resulted in the deaths of some of the close by locals. Everyone around here is afraid now AVALANCHE will target the Sector 5 Mako Reactor next, if that happens we’ll be trouble.”

“Why doesn’t everyone leave then?” Negi asked knowing what the man meant by “trouble”.

“We all wish it was that simple, we don’t know for sure where AVALANCHE will strike next so by trying to get away from their next target we might actually be going closer. Another thing is if we did leave and this place was destroyed then we would have no where to go and might as well be dead, then there are some that feel like this is their home and come good or bad they should stick with it.”

“I see.” Negi said before going into thought.

“But I have a question for you now, what are you doing in the slums? It’s obvious from the way you dress that you come from the plate.”

“The plate...” Negi not knowing exactly where he was, what Mako is or anything about the slums and plate took a minute to respond.

Where ever he is it’s called the slums, that much is easy to guess also he seems to be wearing nicer clothes then everyone in the slums so he could assume that the plate was a nicer place and the nicer the place the more it would cost to live there. But what he still didn’t know was what Mako was, seeing as how there was something call a “Mako Reactor” it could very well be an energy source but Negi couldn’t be sure. The last thing was AVALANCHE. In Negi’s mind it doesn’t matter what their deal was or why they were attacking these Mako Reactors or what ever they were, if innocent people were dieing because of it THEY HAD TO BE STOPPED!

The man asked another question “And what’s with the suit, do you work for Shin-Ra or something?” This seemed to be more of a joke considering that the man was laughing. Though Negi was still distracted by his thoughts to notice laughing.

“Shin-Ra?” Negi asked.

“Holy crap! You’ve gotta be joking you don’t know what Shin-Ra is?!” At this quite a few people was turning their heads and paid much unwanted attention to Negi.

Negi decided to bluff “Hahahaha, I was just pulling your leg of course I know.” He was relieved when everyone stopped paying attention to him and went back to what they were doing before.

Deciding what to say next Negi continued “Well, I and my father are from the plate and he had business here in the slums and I decided to tag along.”

The man was starting to get suspicious but decided to leave it there.

After saying a polite good bye Negi went on his way to find directions to the Sector 5 Mako Reactor. He could of asked the guy he was just moments ago talking to but asking to many questions may look suspicious. And being in a new place it would be best to keep a low profile.

It took Negi a few hours to get the much needed information from various people as to where the Sector 5 Mako Reactor was and also info to confirm that Mako was indeed an energy source. ‘What’s this feeling? The closer I get to the building the more I can sense a powerful accumulation of magic. It’s almost stifling.’ Negi thought feeling a little lightheaded.

Deciding to use his staff to fly the rest of the way Negi took to the air. Upon arriving at the Sector 5 Mako Reactor Negi had to work his way through a bunch security doors and what not. A lot of the time Negi needed a password to open a door but instead of randomly guessing Negi used a lightning based spell to short-circuit the devices thus avoiding the headache of trying to fine out or guess the correct code.

Then it hit him, Negi had no idea were the core of the reactor was. Then he heard a familiar voice coming from his pocket “Hey, Aniki someone slipped something in here.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While in a different location at the time.

The man Negi was talking to earlier was now talking with a figure in the shadows.

“I gave the kid the information. I also slipped the map into his pocket. And did everything you told me too. Why are you getting a child involved in this whole thing anyway?” The man asked.

The figure stepped out and revealing himself as Neecard, the man who led Negi to the World Tree shrine to begin with. Then he spoke. “That child is a lot more powerful than you know. And as for my reasons you’ll see in due time.” Neecard took this time to light up a cigarette.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at the Sector 5 Mako Reactor.

“Chamo, I can’t believe you were in my picket the whole time. Why didn’t you say something earlier?”

“I was asleep until the thing with the light. And I don’t think it would have been wise to speak earlier when we were in public.”

During the entire span of their short conversation Negi was using a map Chamo found in his pocket. And after a few moments of silence Negi found the location of the core.

After thirty minutes of waiting Negi start to grow tired and had to wonder if AVALANCHE was going to show up. Then he heard a few pairs of steps coming closer.

Negi told Chamo to find a place to hide and readied himself for what he knew was inevitable.

Upon entering his view he could see three of them, two males and a female.

One man was built like a gorilla and had what appeared to be a gun attached were his hand should be.

Next a smaller man with a buster sword on his back but what really drew the eye was his hair, he had blonde hair which seemed to defy gravity with rather sharp looking spikes in it, and Negi thought to himself that the spikes were there so if the guy’s sword broke he could use his hair as a backup weapon.

The woman had what looked like altered boxing gloves, tight fitting white top and a black mini-skirt but the things that would catch your attention were certain features in the northern region, her breast much like the blonde man’s hair defied gravity.

While they did look a little intimidating Negi was already coming up with a battle plan if he couldn’t talk them out of doing this.

The bigger man with the gun-arm was the first to notice. “What the hell is a child doing here?!”

The guy with blonde hair spoke next. “Careful there’s something different about this child.”

Then the woman spoke. “This is weird. It took us long enough to get here and a child did it before us.”

Then Negi decided to speak. “A-Are you AVALANCHE?”

“Huh? How does the kid know?” The guy with the gun-arm asked the woman.

But before she could respond Negi spoke up. “I’ve come to ask you not to blow up the reactor.”

This seemed to offend the man with the gun-arm who took a few steps closer to Negi. “What the F*&#?! If we don’t stop it the planets going to die!”

Negi not knowing what the bigger man was talking about had already resolved himself to stop them continued. “If you blow this thing up innocent people will die!”

The man with the gun-arm responded, even more pissed then before “And if the planet dies everyone dies with it!”

“No matter what I can’t let you do this.” Negi said.

The man with the gun-arm seemed to loose what little temper he had and approached Negi. “I’ve had enough of this brat; I’m going to make him move.”

The woman quickly replied “Barret, he’s just a kid don’t over do it.”

Negi taking out his staff and started a spell. “Ras-Tel Ma-Skil Magister, Cantus Bellax!” [Song of War]

The spell was followed by Negi taking up a fighting stance. When the man named Barret got close enough Negi struck by thrusting his palm forward. This attack launched Barret into the air and sent him flying backwards a few feet behind his companions.

The blonde with the buster sword charged Negi with said sword in hand. After doing a backflip to avoid contacted with the sword Negi got some distance and yell “Flan Exclamatio [Wind Disarment]” A gust of wind blow from Negi’s staff and knock the man’s sword right out of his hand.

Using his opponent’s moment of dismay to his advantage Negi used a technique to close the distance then he used “Double Open Palm Strike” to make it harder for the man to recover and to keep him away from his fallen weapon.

With his opponent out of reach of his weapon Negi started another spell. “Ras-Tel Ma-Skil Magister, Unus Fulgor Concidens Noctem In Mea Manu Ens Inimicum Edat FULGURATIO ALBICANS!! [One flash of lightning cutting the night, let the thing in my hand eat my enemy WHITISH LIGHTING!!] Once again launching himself at his opponent to strike him with the spell.

After making contact the blonde screamed in agony as a powerful jolt of electricity shot through out his body. The pain was enough to bring him to his knees and the damage to his body was enough to keep him down.

Before Negi could prepare himself the woman rushed him and punched him in the stomach. Sure, Negi was strong and with his magic powering him he was stronger then an average adult, and with the Cantus Bellax in effect he was even stronger not to mention his magic barrier constantly surrounding him that absorbed most blows an enemy could deal. Even with all these things the woman’s punch sent him back and had enough power to put him down momentarily.

“Cloud are you okay?” The woman asked.

“T...Tifa...d-don’t let him speak. He uses some kind of incantations in place of Materia.” And with that the man identified as Cloud passed out.

Negi already on his feet began a new spell “Sagitta Magica, Aer Capturae!! [Arrow of Magic, Air Capture!!]

But the woman – Tifa knocked him off his feet just in time because after the incantation nothing happened.

Tifa walked over to the fallen child and picked him up by the collar of his shirt. Normally she was a calm and reasonable person but her teammates were both KO-ed. At this point she practically screamed at him. “What did you do to Cloud?!” it was obvious that she wasn’t in the mood for any B.S. from the look on her face.

The boy only looked at her and smiled, he placed an open palm on her stomach and numerous ribbons of glowing blue light shot out of his wrists attaching themselves to the startled woman. She was forced to let go of Negi as they roped from her shoulder and going diagonally down bonding her arms to her sides forming something like an X, the remainder stuck to the ground keeping her from moving.

It seems as though Round One was Negi’s.

But Round Two was about to begin.
