[Guide] Poll Help

a number of polls have been springing up recently that don't appear to me to have been made correctly

People are picking up on the mulitple choice option, but the poll questions seem to expect a single answer from respondents

Just so you all know, the multiple choice option should only really be used when you want people to be able to pick more than one of your poll options, not to allow you to have more than one option available (which is where the confusion may lie).

If you don't click the multiple choice option, people get a radio button to click on, rather than a multiple choice tickbox

Just so you know



A: What you're doing if you chose to add a poll to your new thread
B: Your poll question - what are you asking people to vote on?
C: How many options do you want to give people to vote on? Default of 2, maximum of 10. Click the button to update the number of fields you get.
D: Enter your poll vote options here, if you want more options, go back to step C.
E: How long do you want the poll to run in days? By default, it'll stay open forever o_O
F: Do you want a single answer from people, or give them the ability to choose more than one answer? This doesn't let you add more options, that's step C
G: Show the names of the people who've voted for each option (you get a clickable number shown, instead of a normal text number by the side of each option)
H: Leave this one on if you want people to be able to click links in your options
I: Get rid of smilies in the poll text? Yes or no?

J: Does what it says on the tin. Shows you what your poll will look like, or submits your finalised poll

Basically, unless you have a particular reason otherwise, your poll shouldn't be multiple choice.

Simple poll lets you choose only one of the available options.

Multiple choice lets you choose any amount of the available options.

So in a yes/no poll, for example, multiple choice makes no sense, as you can choose both 'yes' and 'no'.

I think this has happened at various stages of my time here, Donkey. Just that we've had a few polls spring up lately so I thought people might need a few pointers

I know on CIEI people had the habit of doing the same thing. Perhaps it's me?

Usually, people only vote for one option anyway, but you always get one idiot who insists on voting more than once if the poll isn't configured correctly
