Setting shout direction as a user choice woud not only be a coding nightmare, but would also likely lag to hell. inferno technologies make evrything as good as they can, they could likely manage a system like that, but then the retail price of the shoutbox would be doubled.
In short, quit your whining

hahah "coding nightmare"... silly FB, they already store user preferences, one more setting wouldn't harm, and its as easy as just displaying messages in reverse order
 (oh no, that would mean they'd need to add an extra if statement, the horror  ).

it's doable, I'm sure. Just not by us, is what I was getting at
I'm not sure why people's brains work that way, Kataja. If I knew I'd be a psychologist, not a 'nanapervert. Nothing's backwards or the right way around... if this'd been put in to work like IRC and work down the page from the beginning, I'm sure people would've just got used to that too

Its not just the internet thats backwards, its the rest of the world! books aren't read upwards either! We're teaching the kids bad reading techniques, should change it back

One problem with people who want the SB to go from top to bottom.
Most of us ALREADY know how to read. This IS an anime and manga forum too so most of us know the following: - How to read a book - The average level of education of a 13 year old or older - How to read left to right - How to read right to left - How to read top to bottom - How to read bottom to top SO if anything we're just learning a more diverse area of reading. Example: I'm one of the youngest people on the board, I'm 13. If there's anyone here my age who is still learning to read, then they really would of had a lot of trouble registering.
