On the other hand, if you and the people in your community still face the prejudices that others around hold against your grandparents... What can you do? You don't belong to the majority either, then.
I say such groups as the Irish living in Northern America form ethnic entities of their own, culturally related to both their ancestors and the surrounding mainstream.
