The Avatar Issue

Hey Guys what's up!

I just would like to point out
that Avatar size cellings are a
really bad thing... Don't you hate
being forced to detteriorate the
quality of your Avatar??!! Maybe a
slight size update let's say to good
old 30k would be a wise idea...
After all you only got to download it
for one time ^____^

Wait isn't Avatar size decided by the
Global Moderator or Is it a site deaufult??

Humm... Avatars....
I never usually have anything bigger than 60x60, so Im usually not affected. XD
That, and all my avatars are rather small... o_O
So, I dun really care too much, but you do know, that a limit does save on hosting space...
Im not sure what the current limit is, due to the fact that I didnt have any problems with mine. XD
Also, when an avatar gets shrunken down to a smaller fixed demention (say 100x100 to 60x60) the resolution actually increases... theoretically making the quality better...
But, at the same time... harder to see details due to it being smaller. XD

On my Forums, I keep the limit at 100x100, though nobody ever hads bigger, and people hardily ever have even that size.
Big blocky avatars look horrible, and some people are REALLY bad about that. XD
Avatar size would be set by the Forum Admin (In other words, Style-sama) and not by mods or G-Mods. And since this is a self hosted board, the Admin can do whatever they damn well please, with out any restraints (Unless it is a problem with the site coding limitations).
So, I guess Ill vote that we should go back to more free avatars, though I dont care too much. XD

The resolution strain is fine by me.
It's the size strain to 4k that I don't
like. I had to make my jpeg avatar to 52
colured gif ( just look at it >__<;;; )

4k is very small, but otherwise I'm generally in favor of avatar size ceilings. Makes things much easier on people with low-speed connections. And it prevents someone from using a huge avatar...

I had to convert mine from
jpeg to gif and then deteriorate
it from 128 to 52 colours...

I'm pretty sure I know what avatar you speak of Ryo, I am sure I was constantly keeping a lookout to make sure it was animated and I wasn't going crazy from lack of sleep ¬_¬

Anyways, I thinkit's a good idea for the resctrictions, but 4k is a little too small for my liking (especially seeing as my Sexy no Jutsu avatar is just too big to go in :'(

I did the same thing with mine.. 4k is too small.. why set a limit when it's the users problem to find a site to host anyway

GAHHHH!!! It's horrible! I had to cut the neo's image 200 times to fill in. Now it's kinda not good. Please change that limit, i wasn't going to put an image much bigger than my actual avatar!

not too much cos some ppl will post a big ass avatar

i think its not about the file size...

i just want the resolution to be a bit bigger

I reckon its good as it is. If the resolution or file size was upped too much, every page would take longer to load than it does already, and that'd annoy people more than not having the absolute best quality avatar in the universe would annoy them...
