Donations and supporting the board - Love Hina & Negima Forums

Scrolling through old posts you see many names. Many of these posters with insane amounts of points. I do not begrudge them their points as I am sure they worked hard to support the forum and deserve their points.

I have never been much of a poster in any forum I have ever been involved with. However I do like to support said place that I truly enjoy visiting. This leaves me with a lack of points for some of the cool and funny optional extras on animeb.

My question or proposal involves a cash for points. $1 = 1000 or so. This would allow some of the more sporadic posters to support the forum they love, in their own way.

I guess this is a good idea, since Style had to go to phpBB format awhile back out of needing money....

But just remember, not everybody uses the dollar. I dun think Style's going to sit there and fix out all the currency values.

Plus, under the current system, money is wired by credit card. >_>

Well to put it this way. Animeb is the first forum that I have come across since my last chatroom was taken down. I like the ability to chat in the SB. I was just going to show my appreciation by donating. Being mercenary though, I was going to try to get what I could out of it

I am not much of a poster. Never have never will be. So just thought I could get a few points out of my donation

This is a great idea.

I'll start by doing the following: I'll be glad to donate points so that Style can sell them to raise funds for the site.

But first, let's let him make the decision. I think there's a donate link somewhere on the site...

I'd donate as much as I could, but Fanime just ended, so my bank account looks a lot smaller. Time for more saving.

I like the idea, given I'd only just suggested to Style that he use a PayPal account for donations for a high-bandwidth host. We DO need a good host that doesn't lag us at random (no folks, the SB had nothing to do with it, in the end - we had lags even AFTER Style cleared the history), so this has my approval.

So somebody grab Style and dip his head into this thread!

In further, while I have enough points to do cute things with my name. I would also like to send presents and such. But for that you need more points.

Some like BC and hinarei deserve their massive amount of points due to their long service to the forum. They have so many points now that with interest they can give gifts and do lil bonus type things to their threads and posts.

I am not saying change the points you get for posts and threads. Just for some of us that love the forum but are not strong posters. Points for donations gives us a chance to have a few points to rub together.

there's been a Donate link in the top menu bar for a while... no-one looked there?

incentives? well, points could be used, that's true... Of course, there are people here with TANKS of points sitting gathering dust and interest

But I don't think we need to dish out our points... there's an Admin Donate option, methinks

Rewards for contributors/donators on other boards I've been on have included: access to previously locked boards, donator usergroup and icons

, better access to other fiddly options, big karma points and vBux. Deciding what we can offer is the sticking point. We are a very open forum,. and little is locked to normal members (so we can't, for example, give people access to a Love Hina Pictures board if they donate)...

It's a tricky one, and points fit the bill, but there's always room for more incentives

it has been confirmed... if you donate $1 hina becomes your play mate for the day (Kaolla su not included)...

well perhaps only 1$ for 1000 points is a little over the top.
shouldbe 10$ minimum.
