Language filter

I was asked to put 'em in, and in they went. I'd like to hear other comments on this, but it seems that people favour language like this

ypu know, from what i have seen, most of the people who dont want the language filter, are some that have infracted people for using such vulgar language.

Or those who have displayed such language themselves. I'm all for heavy filtering, as such language is, after all, unnecessary in a forum.

It's not like you don't know the words. We don't need to protect anyone, it's not our job either. It's how people talk, theres no need to sugarcoat it.

Clearly popular support is for the removal of all of these but *****. That one has majority support, but not quite as strong. I still don't see a problem with it - I mean we're not a bunch of 10 year olds, are we? - but I'll not say any more on the subject if enough people seem to find it offensive, for whatever reason.

But yeh, I was thinking it was 6 out of 14 rather than 6 out of 21. That still isn't many at all.

And if Eva had the forum the way she wanted, we'd probably end up with more stars than not.

nowt wrong with not wanting to see bad language.

Now, I'm not exactly prim and proper meself, peepls, and there are occasions where I've sworn in type meself. But we'll leave the filter in place for a few words, and as Betong said, this doesn't give people the green light to start profanitising all over the place

When I was younger, if my mother or father looked at me and even thought I was about to say that word, that bar of soap would be in my mouth so fast I'd taste it the week before . God*damn is a swear word.... for Christians and Jews certainly. And yes, I've used it many times myself.... I never claimed to be perfect ^^.


Just because swear words have become commonplace to say does not make it acceptable to say in mixed or polite company. Not liking such language does not make one a 'candy ass', contrary to popular anarchist/antisocial belief . I'd prefer to keep things as clean as possible.

Seconded, Miroku. I personally tend to feel disgusted at the over-use of unnecessary language. Fine when they're at home, but that's exactly where they should leave such language. Let the forums be one where everyone feels comfortable, instead

So quit bitc.hing people -.- Don't you think we get enough of that as it is? If someone can't use the words correctly, then why the hell don't they have an infraction for it? Helloooooo... thats what the Inappropriate Language infractions for. You can't infract someone for saying words that are already starred out. The only place you CAN infract them for that so far is the shoutbox, but even then, the only words I've seen anyone really use that would be considered bad by most of you pansies is the F word, and sh.it, and maybe bi.tch to tell people to stop bit.ching and the only one who really does that last one, is me.

Shi.t has become an everyday word to describe poo or 'manure' as Eva always calls it. Don't you think the forums coddled enough? I say this to everyone in a higher place than me right now, and partially as a joke, but also seriously.
