Language filter
Due to the nature of this thread, you'll have to excuse my language for the time being.
Let me make it clear this thread does not give everyone an excuse to start swearing unnecessarily. Do so and you will still be infracted.
Apart from the obvious words, there are a few things blanked out by the swear filter that I consider harsh. Apparently they were put here due to complaints from the public, so I suppose someone must have had a problem with them, but I'd like to get people's opinions on them with a possible view to removing them from the filter.
Of course, if there are any words you want on the filter that aren't there, feel free to suggest them. As I said, though - no needless vulgarity.
The words in question:
God.damn - not sure why we're protecting Christian blasphemy, this not being a Christian forum. Methinks BC may have wanted this one up here.
Dam.mit - same again, but even harsher. Who is actually offended by this? They'd say it on a kid's TV programme, for god's sake. Also, you can still use damn, and damnit, and damn it, and God damn it, etc. Redundant?
Bug.ger - I understand the connotations this may have for some people, but to me it's just an average word along the lines of 'damn'. That's probably quite an English meaning, though, and a northern one at that, but what do the rest of you think about it?
Bit.ch - a useful word for insulting people, no doubt, but again - one which is used all the time in real life. Everyone knows it, so it's not like it's teaching any kids naughty words. It can be used in some other useful contexts (eg this phone is a ***** to work properly). Also, I personally feel that if someone's insulting me, I'd quite like to know what they're actually saying, not to have it all covered up. The meaning still gets through with ***** (which, incidentally is the only 5-letter filtered word, so you'd know what they've said anyway )
Forn.icate - what? I'd like to know how this got here.
Please vote according to your own opinion, not because of 'what others might feel'. The point of this is to see how you feel. I'll decide how to use the results of the poll later.
And for the love of god - if you vote 'none', don't select any others. I will slap you.

Frankly I think they're all fine except for Bit.ch since some people could start abusing their freedom to use it >.>
And just to see how Betong will react I'm voting for None to.
I mean, None is such a horrible word, no? No more using the word None! It's a crime!

I am American so ****** does not hold the same stigma to me as it does in the UK or elsewhere.
I am not religious now. However, I used to be, and therefore do not care much for D or GD. I personally am more fond of F and SH when I want to express something using colorful metafores.
Personally I do not like chat-filters. I do know some use that to their advantage though. They think that since there is no chat filter that allows "freedom of speech". I do not believe in the freedom of speech. Or rather shall I say. Just because you can say something, does not mean you should or have to say something.

God damn - Do not use your lord's name in vain... Sorry, but not everyone is required to follow the ten commandments
Dam mit - I myself was surprise that this thing was filtered.
It's a representation of you starting to get pissed off. Not really an insult.
Bug ger - A british word eh?
From what I know, ****** is supposed to mean "darn" or "damn" when used as "Oh ******!"
Bit ch - Yeah.
This is already classified as an insult.
Of course it does mean female dog but meh...
********* - It's a scientific term for sex. It shouldn't just be allowed but encouraged
None - This is the most evil of all bad words! It should be filtered and infractions should be automatically given to those who say it!!!

People are not always capable of guarding their actions. Therefore I understand why admins and mods and governments make laws.
As has been said by some. Allowing "on duty" mods to judge a persons actions case by case might(prolly) lead to uneven application of said rules/provisions/principles. I also understand that there are those out there that would use said uneven application of rules to find loopholes in the system.
There will always(I hate using the word always, but it is applicable in this statement) be those that misuse the system to their advantage. These are those that make it hard for good people to get by in this world. Good people do not need every little law to be spelled out for them. They understand that there is a time and place for everything.
Be excellent to each other!!

Of course it's an insult, but then so is idiot, moron, retard, loser, hypocrite, "you make me sick", "i hate you", "I want to vomit on your face", "I'll dance on your mother's grave" etc, and they're not blanked out.
Just to clarify - and you can always tell me if you want to change your votes - the swear filter is for obscenities, not insults. Sh and fu are obscenities. Bit.ch is insulting, but is it actually a swear word? That's what needs judging here.

Ah go forni.cate yourselves :3
XD Just kidding. But really, I have no problem with bi.tch so long as people don't call each other one. I tend to use bit.ching in place of "Whining" because it tends to have more effect.

None of the word listed are really that bad.
So that's what I voted.

None of those actually.
Just the usual should be censored i think; the f word, the s word(synonym of poo), the donkeyhole, etc.

f.......e was put in because when we censored f... people used it annoyingly frequently to get around the censor. there were things happening to that word that shouldn't happen even to s...
I don't think any of them should be removed. People should use their common sense, sure, but if you're going to sit and type those words then you're only admitting you need more vocab lessons
People asked for them to be put in, I see no reason to take 'em out. Do they severely hinder your ability to post on the board?
