Well, i dont have a problem with it, there are people that seem to need some acknowledgment in order to feel motivated/better. So, this could be implemented, sure. This would just mean the creation of a new usergroup, not a hassle to get it set up.

bleh. nah, I don't see why we need to go to the trouble. You're respected for your contributions, don't need to brag about 'em or fish for compliments and such all the time...

Besides, things like special usergroups would do... what? Give you coloured names? Got that in the plaza. Give you access to special forums? Got none of those here, and those that do have requirements to access are not going to be decided upon how much money you shovel at Style If it's just to brag or differentiate people... feck off and go and post on SA

I honestly see no upside to this suggestion >.<

I agree with hinarei. Giving special thingies next to a user's profile who are contributors is meaningless if they're not treated decently.

The thread is about honoring special contributors.

I believe in a meaningful way of honoring special contributors, and treating them decently is one such way.

Yep, thats what i said in the first place, but i mean, if some people want, its not a hassle to implement . Many places have that sort of thing, where a user has some sort of flag/icon besides their name "contributor", especially in those open source projects where well, they dont make any money for their project and people donate
