oh, so it was the other way around? Kitsune won something?

That's a good scene too and yes, it's so like Where's Wally its scary, but must've been hel to draw and great fun at the same time

Mutsumi actually is in that frame. She's standing next to Shinobu and Nyamo on the right of Naru with her family in her usual giggling pose that we all know and love.

You're forgetting something, that Akamatsu is also an artist, and they tend to reuse characters because he makes things go faster, and when you have a weekly schedule you tend to not care as much.
It's also a bit of fanservice in a way. (Not the sexual kind.)

Also for you guys to note.
In Love Hina when Naru was doing the middleschool tutor job (or whatever.) She mentions that she had watched a show about a cute teacher and his troublesome students. (Something to that extent anyway.)

SaxyMike is correct. The sides are slightly clipped in the US version.

Negima is full of magic, so it's not that weird that there are flying turtles... or gorillas, or whatever the hell he feels like making up.
If you notice on the back of one of the covers, Chizuru is wearing an apron with Tama Chan on it.

I see a lot of weird characters in that Love Hina ending frame. (Those three kids around Kitsune, Shinobu, Nyamo, and Mutsumi.) Though they're probably just from Mol Mol.
