As a matter of fact, I have an unpublished story of an alternate universe where they break up after living together as lovers for some years. They do plan to marry, and take it quite seriously, but it just does not work in the long run.

Dunno if I had ever written that if I had reached the end of the manga sooner, though.

I wonder how the couple has managed to deal with their different careers. Does Keitaro work mainly in Japan? Or does Naru maybe even like the more quiet periods of life when he is abroad? Or does she travel with him wherever duty calls him, not even trying to get permanent work contracts herself? Somehow I do not see Mrs. Narusegawa (she wanted to keep her maiden name, you know ) as a housewife. Except maybe after the birth of their first child.
