VF-22S Sturmvogel II, Lanster Mod
This is for use by Thread Author in the Mecha Brigade Roleplay. -------------------------------------------------------- PROJECT: M357 Special Operations Variable Fightercraft CODENAME: Trantor MILITARY DESIGNATION: Special Operations Use Advanced Variable Fighter, Modified, Model Veritech Fighter 22S Sturmvogel II, Lanster Modification SHORT FORM:: VF-22S Sturmvogel II, Lanster Mod. CRAFT'S GIVEN NAME AND SIGNIFICANCE: 'Gandiva' - Hindu mythology, the name of a bow given to Arjuna by Agni, God of Fire. Arjuna intervened on the behalf of the gluttonous and sickened Agni, who needed to consume a forest to heal himself. The bow was used by Arjuna to prevent Indra, the King of the Gods, from causing rain to snuff out Agni's fire and thus allow him to consume the forest. Agni then granted this bow to Arjuna, which he used it to slay many warriors, including Karna. CONTRACTOR: Morgenroete Incorporated CREW: 1 Pilot, 1 Smart AI PILOT: Captain James Lanster, United Nations Spacey, Naval Special Warfare Section II ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: Nagato Yuki, Adjunctant level AI HEIGHT: 48.70 ft (15.22 m) in soldier configuration. 25.98 ft (8.12 m) in gerwalk configuration. 12.93 ft (4.04 m) in fighter configuration. WIDTH: 22.12 ft (6.91 m) at shoulders in soldier configuration. 49.15 ft (15.36 m) in gerwalk or fighter configuration with wings at maximum extension. LENGTH: 13.54 ft (4.23 m) in soldier configuration. 45.15 ft (14.11 m) in gerwalk configuration. 62.78 ft (19.62 m) in fighter configuration. RUNNING, SOLDIER CONFIGURATION: 120 mph (192 kmph) LEAPING, SOLDIER CONFIGURATION: 50 ft (15 m) high or 70 ft (21 m) long without thrusters. FLYING, GERWALK/SOLDIER CONFIGURATION: Mach One (670 mph/1072 kmph) maximum speed limit in an Earth-like atmosphere. Can also hover in place indefinitely. FLYING, FIGHTER CONFIGURATION: Mach 3.5+ (2345 mph/3572 kmph) max speed at 10,000 meters or less above sea level. Mach 5.06+ (3390 mph/5085 kmph) max speed at 10,000-30,000 meters above sea level. Mach 22+ (14,740 mph/22,455 kmph) max speed at 30,000+ meters above sea level, for a maximum of 5 seconds. Cruising speed is usually Mach 5-6. The VF-22 can vary the configuration of its wings and control surfaces to provide greater speed or control as the situation requires. The Sturmvogel is capable of achieving orbit over an Earth-class planet without additional rocket assistance. Maximum rate of ascent is 61,900 meters/minute. G limits are +70.0 to -50.0 Earth gravities. MAX ENGINE THRUST: 41,900 kg x2 in an atmosphere, 70,200 kg x2 in space. The maximum thrust is automatically limited in an atmosphere due to coolant problems with the optional air intake systems for the engines. CONSTRUCTION: Gundaminium Frame Titanium-Steel Alloy Battleplate, 12.7mm Thick Heat Resistant Outer Coating, Radar Obsorbant Material SHIELDING: Howard/Morgenroete PBS-06F Pin-Point Barrier System: This VF-22 is equipped with a newer model of the common mecha-scale pinpoint barrier system for defense. The system can generate a single pinpoint barrier that can be moved anywhere on the mecha and used as a shield against incoming attacks. Controlled by the AI, prioritization of incoming attacks. Due to the stealth defeating qualities of a pin point barrier system, this system is only active in high-combat zones. POWERPLANT: Two 65,200 kg Shinnakasu Industry/Pratt & Whitney/Rolls Royce FF-2900A thermonuclear turbine engines, designed for dual atmosphere/space use with optional concealed trapezoidal air intakes for use in an Earth-type atmosphere as well as being modified as reverse thrust nozzles. In addition, several Pratt & Whitney HMM-6J high-maneuverability vernier thrusters are mounted on the wingtips, vertical stabilizers, nose, and other key locations for added performance. Additional thruster options include an external fold generator developed for use with Project Super Nova. Integrated Anti-Gravity pod allows power plant to power other systems without the need to use V/STOL performance WEAPONS SYSTEMS: Morgenroete AAB-7.5 ATA Laser Gun: The VF-22 mounts a single laser for use in air combat skirmishes and for defensive purposes. The laser is mounted on the head of the mecha in soldier mode, and is located in the forward dorsal section of the main body pointed rearward in fighter and gerwalk modes. The laser can only fire to the REAR of the fighter in these modes; it cannot be turned to fire along another arc. Morgenroete REB-24A Laser Guns: Two semi-fixed laser gun clusters are mounted in the arms the VF-22. Like the VF-17 Nightmare the arm lasers have two exit ports (one pointing each direction) and thus can fire either to the front or the rear of the mecha in any mode. In fighter mode the lasers can only be aimed along the front or rear arc of the aircraft (max angle is about 30 degrees in any direction from the centerline of the fighter) but in gerwalk/soldier they can be aimed in any direction by moving the mecha's arms. Morgenroete BML-90S All-Environment Rapid Fire Micromissile Clusters: The VF-22 is armed with eight internal BML-02S missile launchers that were built exclusively for the mecha design. The launchers are mounted in the forward dorsal and forward ventral sections of the craft and have exit ports on the top and bottom of the wings near the engine nacelles. Any type of UN Spacy mini-missiles can be used by the launchers, including the high-maneuverability mini-missiles recently developed by the UN Spacy. Armor-piercing MMs are standard issue, however. Although the Sturmvogel has double the number of missile launchers of the YF-21 prototype, corresponding dorsal and ventral launchers feed from the same missile bay. Therefore the total number of missiles carried is still the same, although the rate of fire has been doubled. Not in service for MBU II Morgenroete GV-11U Gun Pods: For a main external weapon, the VF-22 contains TWO new stealth gatling gun pods produced by Howard Industries and General Dynamics. These gun pods are exclusively designed for the VF-22 and are mounted in specially designed storage bays located on the underside of the craft in fighter mode, similar to the Gatling gun used by the VF-17 Nightmare. In Gerwalk or Soldier modes the gun pods can be ejected from their bays and used by one or both of the VF-22's hands. The gun pods can fire in any mode; they fire out of a special concealed port when stored in Fighter mode. Like the original GU-11 gun pod used by the VF-1 Valkyrie, the GV-17L gun pods do NOT use clips of ammo, but instead have a large internal supply of ammo stored in the barrel of the pod. This allows the GV-17L to contain a larger supply of ammo and bypasses the need to reload while in the field. Once exhausted, the gun pods can only be reloaded by trained technicians at a supply base. It is loaded with M225 and M245 ammunition. General Purpose Missile Bays: A standard addition to the Sturmvogel, the fighter contains two concealed missile bays on the lower rear area of the fuselage which can hold missiles, bombs, or other tactical ordinance within the body of the VF-22. The advantage to this system is that while enclosed, the payloads can be fully concealed by the active stealth system of the Sturmvogel with no danger of detection. The bays had been reduced in size, now able to fit only cargo or smaller missiles. Most of the space taken by Gravity pods and advanced ECM/ECCM and Stealth Functions. INTERNAL SYSTEMS AND ELECTRONICS: A large variety of sensors including (but not limited to) Radar, Ladar, Advanced Optics, Gravity Sensors and Neutrino Emission Detectors, used for Navigation, Targeting and Fire control. An extensive C4I suite is provided and sufficient for commanding engagements and forces, but only up to squadron scale. he VF-22 is equipped with a revolutionary stealth system that when activated render the craft almost invisible to standard sensors such as radar. Unlike passive stealth systems like those used by the VF-17 Nightmare or the old USAF F-117, the VF-22's stealth system is an ACTIVE stealth that actually bends radar waves around the mecha rather than reflecting them. The VF-22 is equipped with a computerized auto-pilot, allowing the pilot to relax or even sleep during long voyages. The auto- pilot can be programmed with a single destination or a complex flight plan involving multiple speeds, directions, and destinations. The onboard computer will alert the pilot when the fighter is near its destination, and can also be set to automatically signal when sensors detect objects near the mecha. The auto-pilot was designed with long intra-system space journeys in mind. The VF-22 is equipped with a combat computer that can store and analyze data during combat with hostile forces. The entire cockpit canopy of the VF-22 is a large HUD display, which allows the computer to display large amounts of data to the pilot and even highlight enemies and missile attacks with overlaid graphics. The combat computer tracks and identifies specific enemy targets, and has a database of over 10,000 images stored in memory. The computer can identify and track up to 250 targets simultaneously. Added on to tis, the inclusion of anti-gravity technology into the VF 22 Captain Lanster Mod has led to an ingenious gravity dampening system. The anti-gravity machinery counteracts the forces of high gravity maneuvers felt by the pilot, allowing the pilot to perform as if in normal flight. Standard high-G suits are still worn, as a precaution, but the ships can now perform maneuvers that would tear apart normal airframes and turn pilots into mush. These systems are further advanced on the 'Gandiva', as Captain Lanster's AI, once derectly ported into the ship's systems, can take over as pilot in non-combat situations, as well as flying the plane with the skill rating of an average pilot. It can also increase the processing speed of the ship's many onboard computers, being an Adjunctant level AI, just below a ship-grade AI. ACCOMDATION: The cockpit doubles as a life raft, equipped with a homing beacon and parachutes when in atmosphere, there is sufficient space for the pilot to recline when in noncombat operations, as well as a cargo area for personal belongings. The VF-22 comes with a custom-designed flight suit for the pilot instead of the standard UN Spacy-issue design used by most VF pilots. This flight suit consists of an upper and lower g-suit that promotes circulation even during high-g turns, thus decreasing the possibility of pilot's blacking out in combat. The flight suit also comes with a specialized HMD helmet which can display computer graphics and overlays over what the pilot sees, providing additional information. Although the system is not a great substitute for the BCS and BDI systems in the original YF-21 prototype, it does provide the pilot with additional information and helps combat battlefield confusion. The one disadvantage of the flight suit is that it is customized for the VF-22 and is NOT usable in other aircraft. The VF-22's cockpit is pressurized, and also provides additional air feeds to the pilot's flight suit that provides him with pressurized breathing. The system is designed to work with the customized VF-22 flight suit (see above) and is not compatible with standard UN Spacy flight suits without special modifications. All UN Spacy VFs come equipped with a portable survival kit. Inside the small reinforced box is a medium-sized flashlight, two hand flares, one rocket flare, a compass, infrared distancing binoculars, a small mirror, a pocket knife, dehydrated and concentrated food (can be stretched into a five day supply for one person) and basic first aid items (aspirin, bandages, disinfectants, etc.) DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND EXTRA FEATURES: The fighter is designed specifically for Captain James Lanster, UN Navy Special Warfare Group Section II, for use with a joint Orb-UN team. Design actualy started longer, when Captain Lanster voiced concerns over his current aircraft, which was nothing more than an over modified VF 19. The VF 22 had proven itself in combat against Zentraedi remnant and the Protodevlin, and was thus used as a design basis. The vessel, being already built for stealth operations, suited the requirements posed by Captain Lanster and Section II. With partnership with Orb through Moregenroete Industries, the VF 22 Sturmvogel 'Gandiva', was created. The main purpose of the craft is for special operations use, as well as aerial superiority. Its intake nozzles had been converted to full pledged thrusters, and the ability to diver the thrust to the forward thrusters was implemented. Thrust vectoring was also standard. An ingenious gravity-compensation system allows the cockpit to maintain standard 1.0 and 1.5 g earth gravity, with an advanced monitoring system alerts the pilot to any changes. This system had proven itself in trials on a VF 22 outfitted with the tech conducting trials around Ganymede, in the Jovian Moons test site. It allows for maneuvers that would've forced the pilot into high G forces that would force normal pilots using just the high-g suit and no compensation system to black out and the normal airframe to be destroyed. The airframe is constructed out of Gundanium, bringing extreme strength to the system, as well as being layered in battleship-grade titanium armor for skin, instead of normal steel. Can take more hits as well. An outer layer of armor includes also the Radar bending qualities, as well as Radar obs orbing panels that capture any stray radar wave not bent around the craft. Advanced cooling systems also lead to less thermal signature form the ship. Advanced ECM and ECCM had been placed in lieu of 'off the shelf' systems, this, combined with the advanced stealth options, render the ship invisble to most sensors. Its color scheme also reduces visibility, and running lights are an option, not a requirement. Navigational lights are in the same thing. Extra care was used in the construction of the ship, only the best materials, highest quality rated equipment, and testing led to the creation of this specialized VF 22. While a user specific aircraft, it is also capable of being maintained by maintenance personnel used to the VF 22. Extensive automation as well as a 'repair kit', a group of five droids stored within the weapons bays, can repair the craft to a degree when deployed. Its weapons systems are standard UN fare, although there are no more external hardpoints, being counter to the craft. The internal missile/bomb bays have been converted to multi-purpose bays. The most interesting feature is that all laser weapons had been given over to the shipboard AI. The gunpods and missiles the sole weapons still slaved to Captain Lanster's controls. In terms of dogfighting, this increases kill rates, as the lasers are in more dependable hands and are fired independently, allowing the pilot to focus more on piloting. The most ingenious system ever developed is the M225 Shrouded Beam System. Using a normal round as a base, the internal power unit will create a 'beam' encasing the round for about 40 seconds. In a standard combat load for a Gunpod magazine, for every group of 4 normal rounds, there is 1 M225 round. This acts sot of like a tracer, as well as allowing hits to penetrate even phase shift armor. The craft is meant to serve as a replacement for the VF 19 Tyrfing Rising. The missions it will carry out involve standard Special Ops missions, as well as others needed to be accomplished by the special task force. I was given the go ahead by Duo. I only take orders from Duo or another moderator.
The triple post was unintentional posts: 1. Introduction 2. Balmungs Jet (to be written up and posted) 3. My Jet (to be written up and posted) 4. To be decided ( most likely the ship, 'Rodger Young')

Alright....this really is annoying....The rank of Commander does not entitle second in command. It signals you have been a steadfast contributor to this brigade and therefore can deem things inappropriate, but go to me with your opinions only. Both sides of the issue must be seen here. Now Jusu, I do remember giving you permission to go ahead and post your specs, but I assumed that you would edit your first post to include them, and not make another post. And if not that, you could have asked me to bump the thread for you. And Blade, we have to avoid such arguments over who's second in command here. Truth be told, there is no second in command, only a group of members who haved stimulated a great deal of activity in the brigade.
My final decision here, since we have three posts already laid out, we'll just have to go from here and say that the triple post will remain. BUT, next time you are posting specs, and that goes for all of you, run every detail of your posting plan by another member, or me preferably, and ask them to bump your thread to avoid multiple consecutive posts.

Simple. I'm a militarist. I think of better ways to kill my enemy. Honor is irrelevant, survival the key goal. If I see workable technology to enhance the survival of the end-user whilst lowering the survival of the one in the business end of things, it is fine and fair game to be used. That said though, I will disregard new technology as I see fit, if something with less cost and much better reliability can perform the same functions.
Basically, don't reinvent the wheel, fix it so it works better.
