Umm, being a biased in my opinion, Id say id consider any robot that is controlled from the inside by humans or by remote control/computer-sent messages, and is used for mainly warfare is mecha. But that is definitely narrow. Also, EJ, we are extremely close to meeting the sub-forum requirements. We need just one more member, and I think we might have actually hit our 200-post goal recently. FIND US A MEMBER(OR MEMBERS) GUYS!

Mech: a remote-controlled, or sentient-being piloted machine posessing at least one limblike object, removeable or permanently placed.
Personally, I don't think purely AI controlled should be considered mechs because they boarder to close to androids and whatnot. BTW @ Ghost: what's your username on RvB?

I still see them as toys.
Either remote controlled toys, or pilot controlled toys. Toys of war. A gun may be able to kill someone, but like a sword, it's still just a toy. (A very General like statement =D It's like something a higher up would say)

Mecha tend to be extensions of their pilot's hands and feet. What they feel, the pilot feels. The fear of death is always present. Your opinion is your own Tyroki; but be cautious, some may be not as tolerant.

Yes but just because one considers something to be either a toy or a tool, doesn't mean they don't exactly know how to use it.
Where would a farmer be if he didn't know how to use his tools? Yet even such tools in the farmers tool shed can easily occupy the mind of a child, or even an adult.
