If you like more mellow/lyrical stuff, perhaps the band Magnet (Norwegian, but sings in English) Athlete or Travis (Brit) you might end up liking.

Something less mellow.. more in the rock genre, Muse, Kent, Wallflowers or Vertical Horizon.

Um.. and for a more catchy/upbeat type of music, I would rec the Canadian band Stars or the French singer Alizée.
