Asuna's past (SPOILERS)
ok in chapter 220 I noticed in the retelling of Asuna's past it was mentioned it took place 20 years ago and it was insinuated that Asuna was the key behind it, just how old is Asuna anyways?

hey eva is about a few centuries old and she is in the class due to extenuating circumstances, that may be the case for Asuna too (not a curse, but maybe something Nagi wanted) so its possible

nobody really knows, its still a mystery, it is one of the biggest mystery in negima, many post crackpot theories and argue about it, only ken and his staff knows, we will know the truth in the future, till then lets wait and post random crackpot theories

I agree, I think Asuna's past aside is probably one of the biggest mystery. And as such I get the sense her past will some how have an extreme impact on the coming chapters, because there have been so many hints and flashbacks all up until now. The whole plot of Negima seems to revolve around those two mysteries, 1.where is Negi's father and 2. what/who is Asuna?

After reading the Ch. 220 scanlation, I found a little more about Asuna's past. Rakan tells Negi the truth about the origins of Asuna's magic cancelling power. Asuna finally turns out to be between 25 and 27 years old. Rakan did told Negi about his feelings of what happen to Ostia. Rakan had thought that Nagi did not care about one particular little girl.
Oddly, Nagi would allow Asuna to start traveling with the Al Rubra. In Ch. 169, Asuna seem to have been use as a weapon of last resort. Yet, Nagi and the Al Rubra arrived on time. The details of Ch. 169 are a little confusing. Only Eishun and Al were Nagi during the rescue attempt. The Generals seem to be confused over what is happening at first. Asuna's past before 1993 is part of a greater mystery. A mystery like Nagi's disappearance. Rakan tells Negi not to focus on Asuna's past, but to focus only on the present and protecting her.

rakan did not said that nagi did not care for asuna, he just said that nagi call himself a hero even though he cant protect a single country and even a single weak little girl (asuna), you might have misinterpreted it or misread it, and its ala rubra not al rubra.

You never know. Maybe time in the Magic World moves slower than in the Human world, so Asuna really is only 15 or so.
