While I agree with what you say about the ridiculous rise in Negi's powers. I do not think this will turn into, what was that term you used. Where the main character takes on increasingly difficult foes.
While I have watched my share of anime. I am rather new to manga. Negi's story, or something like it, might have been repeated or copied from other manga/anime. However I am new to it and think Negima is a great storyline.

 Crimson Wing to the rescue!  Wait a minute? Nagi is an esper? Shijins?!  There are some things you shoouldn't find out about. Well looking at it Asuna has a memory of Nagi saving her from bondage. (No not that kind perverts!) Seems she was abused. Her wanting to be Nagi's partner as kid is starting to make sense. But you have to wonder about the timeline. Also compared to Eishun and Al Nagi is a shrimp? Just read chapter 169, and enjoyed it.
The "pactio" between Kono-chan and Se-chan, priceless. I have no doubt in my mine that this is when Asuna and nagi first met, but its not when Nagi "died". Hopefully, we can see more of this later. (off to read Chapter 170)

the group that was doing the translation for negima is probably droping the project or going temporarily inactive.
aparently aquistare anime lost alot of the main translators/editors/proof readers on the project here ill try and post the link about it. http://z4.invisionfree.com/aquastar/...showtopic=4994 for if you want to read all the replies and answers but if you dont here is what that post says: Ok, let's get straight to the point, the current AQS scanlation team is unable to continue scanlating Negima! manga scans due to multiple reasons. The main cause is typically the lack of staff, but there are more to it. For the editor test, pm me. For the translator test, pm Sushi-Y 1. Only one translator barely alive. As you all know by now, our main translator Sushi-Y has a very active and busy life in her world. We don't have any substitute for her, or a SFX translator either. Sox has been somewhat inactive lately. 2. Only two active editors left. Kijuru and I are both drained of our motivation to edit. Editing Negima! is much more tedious than other manga series. It is not the most difficult, however, due to its current boring storyline, editing has become the last thing we want to do. 3. No proofreader remained. Lambchopsil, the proofreader chief, has died due to lack of home internet connection since last December. We don't have anybody to quality-check the scans or the test result. 4. Lack of commitment from new members. We have been accepting new members who passed the tests. However, they went MIA so quickly that Aquastar831 couldn't even update the staff list on our website. It has resulted in old members leaving the team without new one filling in their positions. With all reasons above, plus my major lack of motivation and interest in Negima!, I have decided to end our scanlation job after our 100th scanlated chapter of Negima!, which is chapter 166. If anybody would like to take over the series or join the team to revive it, please speak up here. this saddens me but i hope that once the storyline gets back on a major arc they will become reinterested/be able to find new translators or that another group would be willing to pick it up... curse my lack of usefulness in these matters...

Hmm. Thank you for the information kaitounala. I noticed there was a lack of new translated chapter. This definitely is disheartening to hear.

Eva has a soft spot those who are like her. Setsuna being an outcast of her tribe and Asuna being used and abused like her. Is it a coincidence they were both princesses in their previous lives? With exception of Chiu both Eva and Asuna's designs are derived from different ages of Sara of LH whose name means princess.
