Second Negima anime.

Mmm... The New Negima... Aiya... -_-;;;

At first, I was REALLY dissappointed. But, that's because I had expectations.

I thought it was going to be TRUE Negima. I thought it'd be continuing the story, maybe doing the Mahora Festival, and fixing some of those god awful mistakes Xebec did with the first one.

...but... my hopes and dreams were shattered...

As, not only was it a retelling, with NO relation to the original Negima except the characters and basic concepts... But they changed EVERYTHING! The Pactio system, the characters personalities... It's all ruined!

...so... this Negima is ONLY enjoyable... if you think of it as NOT Negima.
Just as something else all together.
If you eliminate all expectations from the First series and Manga... Then you can enjoy this Negima as a stand alone series.

And dont get me wrong... As strange as it is... it has its benifits. First, being that it's funny as HELL. Lots of random humor and stuff make it so enjoyable. The effects are pretty amazing with the fights and magic. I also LOVE the art style and the visual direction... A bit unique, but VERY nice.

So, personally... I do really like the second Negima series. But only when thinking of it as something thats really not REAL Negima at all. =P

You all should understand, that the original Negima anime was pretty much weak, and the only things that saved it was the heavily addictive opening and ecchi moments, beautifully done character developments and twists and romance scenes. And they had to spoil us the true secret of Asuna's identity. Take note, we have to be grateful that at least we know earlier WHY Asuna is immune to magic.

But in the second anime, although it's different, it's been done pretty well. I see the quality of animation and widescreen representation as some form of "MOVIE" or "OVA". That's what's kept me watching. If you keep watching up till episode 14, you will see why Negima!? is so great. The fight scenes are done beautifully, there are funnier moments, and the character designs and new weapons are gorgeous.

The series is also more dark and serious than the light hearted comedy that is the original Negima. I like how Tahkahata knows magic. I like how Evangeline is really defeated by Nagi. I like how the character developments had improved in this version, IMO( Although I didn't like how Yue is afraid of Negi when she should be liking him.)

You're all taking this for granted. You're all talking as if Negima!? will be a failure, but let me tell you this: No. It will not fail. It's quality is one of the best I had seen in an anime, and alot of effort had been pushed on making it work. IMO, the visuals of the second series is outstanding and far outweighs the first. The card system also makes it a potential fighting game in the future.

If you don't like it, then fine. Your loss. But I don't expect any more Negima animes to be produced from Xebec's flop.

To really enjoy it, see this version of Negima as "what would happen if Negima was serious". The joy of seeing your favourite characters in more serious action is always a treat.

Well I would like to know what Akamatsu thinks about the remakes...
The characters look good in !?, the story might not be his but it is good
The only thing is Kotaro seems to be missed out again... is it just me or kotaro isnt liked by the people making this...?
