What makes you think you can say that anime characters aren't "drawn asian", and make sense with such a comment? What you said does not make any sense. Explain please, (did anybody get what he meant??) |

Anime characters are not meant to look non-japanese. People think that they look caucasian, for some reason.
Japanese anime characters are not meant to look caucasian. Some people think otherwise becuase we peoples of the western world have a prominent association with the caucasian aspect, if you know what I mean. The diversity in hair and eye color that occurs in anime is just for the sake of convinience, to give uniqueness to each character. This is the case with most manga/anime characters: they have JAPANESE names, they all speak JAPANESE, most of them live in JAPAN, eating JAPANESE food, a lot of the characters attend school and dress in gakurans and sailor fukus, etc. What bothers me is that when some people watch anime, they think that the characters look caucasian, which makes no sense considering all of their japanese characteristics, but they can't see beyond their aspect, because they associate their looks with their own western context and point of view, which is a troublesome prejudice. |

Sorry for double posting. The japanese are not white skinned ghosts, despite being a phenotypically homogeneous ethnic group. A lot of Japanese people also have brown or dark red hair. What do you mean the japanese have "small eyes"? What they have is an epicanthal fold. What does that have to do with anything? And what the hell does "flat chests" mean?!? |

I think we're getting off track here... anyways.
In my opinion I think the creators of anime/manga or whatever make the characters have all sorta of crazy hair colors, features, etc. so that it's easier to idenitify the characters. Also not all chars have japanese names. >.> I've seen quite a few. My hair is black for the most part....but there's a little bit of brown/dark red. Anyways. D: I didn't get to see it, the live action I mean. RWAR. Had to do stuff then. >< |

Yeah, and that in real life, unless you dye it yourself... it isnt that wild... probably why it is a bit harder to tell them apart, well apart from what they do... In that picture you could probably guess a few from the way they are standing and who they are with...
