Negi's family
I am wondering about your point of view on Negi's family. All we do know about his family that his father is still alive. Negi does have his cousin Nekane. We have seen Nekane's father trying to protect the village during the demon raid. Negi and his cousin Nekane are likely living with one of their grandfathers. It is a normal practice for authorities to place orphans under the care of living relatives. The most likley candidate for Negi's and Nekane's grandfather is the Magus. Negi and Nekane simply call their Grandfather Springfield the Magus.
 Ken should have explored more of Negi's family. Ken may be teasing us over Negi's family. We will find out more about Negi's family since the Wales story arc is coming up. Of course, I wished that we don't have spoilers. Yet, there is one spoiler is about the Princess of the Dusk. Some fans speculate that she is Negi's mother  :hkss:Susano

Negi's family2
I had just reread volume 8 of the series. There are a couple of panels where Negi's Uncle is seen in. The two panels are on the bottom of page 53. In the largest panel, Negi's Uncle and Nekane's father is the man pointing to the location of the demon attack on the village. He is seen in the small panel on the right side of the page.
After I read Volume 8, I am beginning to think that the Springfields are a powerful Magi Clan. Negi's father is claim to have the ability to magnified any spell a thousand times. Hence his nickname "The Thousand Master." All I can state that Nagi is a very powerful Combat Magi. He does have his share of enemies. One of Nagi's enemies was behind the demon attack on Negi's home village. Throughout the series since Volume 1, Ken had to include clues which disclose some facts about Negi's family. One of those clues may have been disclosed in Volume 8. Negi seems to belong to one of most powerful Magi Clans. NeKane's father is likley a village leader since he seems to leading a party of magi during the demon attack on the village. We don't know much about the family of Negi's mother. I do believe that Nagi Springfield loves his wife. What he was doing before his disappearance is only limited to Asuna's dreams. If the Princess of Dusk turns out to be Negi's mother, this means that Negi is a real life Prince. The Princess of Dusk will appear in Chapter 169. for example the mahora festival and the excursion chapters the wales arc is a brand new one

Fate's Attack
While I was reading the Wikipedia article on Negima, I have found out that Fate attacks Negi as soon as he sees him. Negi was severely injured as a result of Fate's attack. It seems that Fate is one of Nagi's enemies. At first, it will seem that Fate's attack was a result of an opportunity. Yet, Fate's attacking Negi was carefully planned.
Someone seems to have been aware of Negi's plan to visit the magical world. Apparentily one of Nagi's enemies has a spy in Negi's hometown. The spy notified that the main villian of the series. well if you are talking about Nekane, she has always been Negi's cousin, but since Negi grew up with her, he refers to her more as a sister then a cousin.
