I think she realizes plenty. There were hints that she's actually quite mature ... and she possesses an almost unlikely self-control in some areas, not to mention a brain whose powers are underestimated by those around her. She got into Tokyo U with a little help, after all ... and that help was more about keeping her healthy and calm than for tutoring, or so I seem to recall.
