Tch, the only great American anime was... yes, I'll say it...
Pokemon. ![]() But, that's slowly degenerated into cartoon status.... >_> And yu-gi-oh isn't enough to cut it against its Japanese Anime counterparts. So you know what my vote is. ![]()

Actually, theres no "american anime", the term anime is used specifically and exclusively for things done in japan. And just for the record, pokemon is anime, as in, it wasnt made in the US
, it still stank though

And it 'stanks' even more. >_> There's no more evidence it WAS an anime in the first place....

By American anime do you mean dubbed anime or American cartoons?
If it's the former, then Japanese, definitely. I see no point in eschewing the original audio in favor of (usually) laughable voice acting just because I'm too lazy to read subtitles. If it's the latter, then it's kind of hard to make a decision because the only real difference is nationality. Japanese and American animation may have certain definitive styles, but not all animated media from either country necessarily abide by that. Animation is just that: a medium, not a genre.

Japanese Animation is "Anime". American Animation is "Cartoons". So you can't say: "What's best, American or Japanese anime" cause it's completely the same.

I call american cartoons that mimick anime more or less copy cat animes. Like teen titans ect. They have the look of anime (the movie was set in japan even ><) but they arent one. Sad thing is people actually think it is an actual anime and it kills me. My BF loves avatar by nick. I can't stand it ><
But yeah anyways always Japan for me =D

I like to call then "Anime Rip-offs" and yes, they usually suck...I mean REALLY suck. The only exception would be Avatar: The Last AirBender - that, in my opinion, is pretty good.
