K9999 is an unknown quantity at this point
tangent 90 degrees

OK, does every1's calculator(s) read "error" when you type in 90 then "tangent"?

hinarei has much to be proud of

Well, it says "invalid input for function". I suppose its because a tangent and 90º would be parallel and there'd never be an answer. They'd never meet. ???

No?

Maybe they didn't get exactly the error you typed in, or want to screw with your results for a laff?!!

You don't get any result at all, just error, when you put that function into a calculator

it is undefined, you can not get tan 90, it does not exist in the real number system.
it can only be referr to as the imaginery number system, or unreal number system, in that system that use the letter i (small i not big I) to represent imaginery numbers. Numbers like square root of any negative numbers and stuff..

once again this shows how math sucks

Ryo Misaki is a name known to all

Remember... Tangent is equal to Sine over Cosine, or y/x.

Sine of 90 deg is 1. Cosine of 90 deg is 0. (Think Unit Circle. Basic Trig, people!)

Therefore... 1/0...

What is ANYTHING divided by 0?

Undefined: Divide by Zero Error.

If you are using a graphing calculator (ex. TI-83) or the windows calculator on scientific mode you can input the tan of 90 in radian mode and get an answer but not in degree mode.

tan 90 isn't out of reality. It's infinity, which is real (although not really comprehensible/displayable, but that's a different matter).

And radians are far superior to degrees. And you can do tan 90 in radian mode because 180 degrees = pi radians. So 90 radians is 16200/pi degrees, which is 5156.6 degrees. (1dp). Which is the same as 116.6 degrees. Throw in tan 90 on radian mode and the answer will be very similar to tan 116.6 on degrees mode (although not exactly the same as I rounded).

tan 90 in radians = -1.995 (3dp)
tan 116.6 in degrees = -1.996 (3dp)

See.
