The Three Rules of Roleplaying (Plus extras)
Do not do ANY of these.
"Godmoding = The act of "Acting" insanely powerful. Not taking a hit, dodging absolutely everything, or taking a hit but it literally not doing anything. I mean, if you have many fireballs coming your way, even if you use a Shield spell, chances are the spell will fail due to the power, and you will be hit by at least one. Also, if you use a full frontal shield spell, your energy is focused to a direct point, which means the further away from the point you move, the energy holding the shield is weaker. Also, your sides and back will be open. If you use a dome based shield, the same rules still apply, and as I said. The further away from the focal point you get, the weaker the shield is.
Auto-Hitting = Hitting your opponent in your own post. Such as "Marnas grabbed Jou's head and slammed it forcefully into the ground, then jumped on it." Even if you use the best description in the world, this is still auto-hitting. Don't be asshats, let your opponent find openings if they can. Also, opponents, don't be asshats yourselves. Let hits through >.< Think about the battle carefully. If something seems unavoidable for the moment, don't be stupid and say "I dodged it" TAKE THE HIT! And if I see anyone saying "I dodged it" or "Marnas dodged it" I will ask for an automatic default win to the opponent. I mean COME ON! Thats the most undescriptive way of avoiding an attack I've seen, and it's so noobish it hurts.
Marionetting = Taking control of your opponents character in any way. You can take control of sounds such as "A sound could be heard". "Marnas heard a sound" is boardering on marionetting in my opinion." Taking control of others characters, even just to make them talk, is bad. >.> Honestly.
Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is where you use information out of character and role play with it.
IE: John was being chased and hid in the bushes not in tims view. Tim roleplays that he found him in the bush even though in character he would have no idea he is in the bush. (By Bebetrunks)

(If you have any other general rules that you believe should be added, please post what it is and your reason for suggesting it, as well as a small description for the rule. Thank you ^-^)

can i add one? PLease? It bugged me so much when i DM'ed for my friends here.
Try to stick with one character as much as possible. i had friends that pulled out ancient, uber characters that were unstoppable and... well, you get the picture. if you end up with an allmighty powerful character that came from no where, i will bet Ty to let me hunt you down.

Motokolover, this is why the Godmoding rule exists =3 Theres nothing wrong with having multiple characters if you can explain how and why they are where they are, or how they suddenly appeared.
Bebe, thats a good one, but very uncommonly needed... I'll add it anyway.

No no, there are 3 main rules. After that are mostly just extra's depending on how people RP, but Trunks did have a point...

hmm I know some which would probebly fit here aswell. or maybe somewhere else I don't know but these I find in most RPs on other sites
No cybering(preforming any sexual action in charecter)
no oneliners(it's easy to post more then just one line, and it really improves the roleplay if you do)

So there are three major rules.

How about "No Deus ex Machina?"
Suddenly awakening a hidden power within your character that not even the GM knows about is simply rediculous. The GM is god. If the GM doesn't know about it, it probably doesn't exist. So do not Deus ex Machina.

the no-Cybering rule is more of a board rule yeah but I have yet to come across any RP board that allows it. not that I'm looking for it.

It depends on the RP General Sai. Some aren't GM run remember. These three rules are the major rules, and then we have mini-rules which are guidelines. Metagaming is actually a decent one these days, as some people seem to do it.

I myself try to not meta-game even in games like Baldurs gate. I really hate it.

*clears throath*
Indeed, there is no god-modding, but in the end, RPing is making others do what we want by not telling them how to act.
Imagine a situation where you are facing an enemy. If you strike continuously, he will only have time to get up. If someone happens to post such a thing, then the victory is yours.
This idea is not very clear, but is indeed what happens, I believe.

I don't think there is any situation, wich a really good Rper can't get out of. there is always a weakspot, always a get away.

Which is why I like to add some logic to RP's ^-^ If an opponent strikes while I'm airbourne, then theres no way I'm going to be able to dodge it.
Logic + RPing = Fun ^-^
Logic + RP battling = See? You can be hurt!
