Well... ORIGINALLY... it's Doughnut.
...so 'Dounut' is natural, I suppose... Just, over time, we butchered it to the 'Donut' you see now. =P Welcome to America! O__<

I'm not sure why but I've always spelt it that way and I never notice untill I'm typing out dunkin donuts and look at it and go "hold on a sec...there is no u, god I'm dumb"
