F1... boring? not a bit of it!

People say that F1 is dead, it's dull and boring, and there's no liffe in any of the races.

Pah!

Yes, okay, some of the races over the last few years have been processions, but you get far more boring footie matches (well, a far bigger ratio of boring matches) than dull F1 races.

But today's race in Canada was outstanding! Crashes (not always a good thing), excellent overtaking, tough battles, great comebacks from penalised drivers, a black flag or two, and a Brit winning

Excellent drive

I'm not really a supporter, more a fan. It's far better televised than if you go to watch, and that's it's major drawback, in my view, but I've folllowed it since '91 when the great Ayrton Senna won his third and last title

Anyone else into this one?

Well, F1...heck no not with this Danicka Patrick and Wheldon fighting going on. the IRL doesn't want to promote the conflict between the two drivers! They're frikkin nuts! F1 driving is dropping to as much hype as the NHL in the United States. It's VERY unpopular but I will have the nerve to say there's still some life, so long as the superiors don't block it out. Heck it's what's kept hockey alive...the fights that NO ONE is going to change, even though it sometimes guides players out in stretchers.

the Wheldon thing is quite a battle, aye

What do you mean, hockey's unpopular??

awww... thatd mean my two favourite sports outside of footie aren't popular well, never mind, I enjoy them, anyhoo

The Canadians like their racing though, Hanku. Okay, it may not have gotten over in the US, but up north it's doing fine

just cos there's not been an American champ for... I dunno how many years

I like the off sports. I prefer open wheel racing vs. nascar. I prefer hockey over basketball. I prefer lacrosse over football(american). Baseball is too boring to watch.

I caught the texas IRL last saturday. Nice for Danica to place third all time high for her. Towards the last few laps she was the fastest car on the track. Too bad she could not overcome the two guys in front. They held their line against her though. I enjoy watching her dark blue car. Seems to have a lil bit of class around it. I do not know much of the rivalry though.

I thought it was Kubica that crashed and got a broken leg?

He'll not be back for at least 3 races, I'd have thought... probably miss most of the rest of the year

Hamilton can definitely win again. Maybe it's beginner's luck, but podium finishes in six straight races? thats championship form, is that

I was shocked at how badly Alonso faded though... I don't think that race was ever on the cards for him after the first corner.

Oh yeah Kubica, why did i get rosberg in my head...
I wonder who BMW will get to replace him if he's out

Yeah, Reading in the Papers if everything goes right Hamilton's going to be rich (£50M)
Yeah Alonso just struggled round the track... The Super Aguri's had a good race finishing in the points again (last years honda! and this years... didnt even get off for Button)

Alonso is also saying that Mclaren is favouring Hamilton which coming after Hamilton said the same for Alonso, I hope this doesnt turn nasty... it certainly seems like it is.

US G.P this weekend... hopefully Hamilton can keep its streak going... I do think he is in with a shot of the championship if he doesnt screw it up

Mclaren is a lot more reliable then last year plus last year the drivers minds were on other things...

Kubica will be replaced by Vettel, most likely, who's a BMW test driver Though, apparently, he's ready to go in for the US race, cos he only got an ankle sprain!

Talk about advancement over the years... when the sport first started, you were lucky not to get killed even if you were in the crowd, and twenty years ago Kubica would have been dead if he'd sustained that crash...

McLaren is definitely in with the best chance this year, the way the start to the season has panned out. Ferrari were constantly nudging but only after they fell away when they started last year poorly... we may have another year similar to last, but I can't see it, somehow.

Yeah, Sato's pulled that car through some stunning laps, and while Super Aguri are nowhere near contention, they at least add a little variety to things... I can't see anyone outside of McLaren or Ferrari challenging for the championship, and it's pretty like footie in England and Spain, where no-one outside of Manchester United/Chelsea or Barcelona/Madrid will ever stand a chance.

The McLaren fight is the interesting part of the next race... see how the team deals with things. It's one thing for two drivers on a team to be competitive, but for a world champion driver to say that "all the team is geared toward the other guy" when only the race before, he was handed a race when the obviously faster rookie had his number... preposterous

It was most likely the senna accident that changed a lot of things in F1
I think I read they put Vettel instead just incase they aggrivated the injury he sustained from Canada

The only team apart from Mclaren and Ferrari who possibly could challenge is BMW... they are pretty consistent in results, hopefully vettel has a good race...
But for the Mid-field points to just gain position, Super Aguri look like they are good for that... it might be never when they get the car that can challenge the front of the grid, they have been in the 2nd Quali session and seeing that Aguri is last years honda when this years isnt working at all...

I really hope that there isnt a fight growing between the two times world champion Alonso and the Rookie Hamilton... Its probably not going to cause a major effect like last year (Rai- Future and Montoya's Dis-interest)

Hamilton is really throwing away the title rookie really fast, from his performance, hes a pro but just in his first year

Formula 1 is motor racing

www.formula1.com

and it is in the sports forum so it gives you half a clue, and it isnt a game (well there are games based on it)

Research Lord-pai...

I heard they are experimenting with Night racing, they did a test at Indnapolis a few days ago... the main race would be singapore when it get added... Monaco would also be a good night race...

Monaco might be good, aye. Thing is, all the drivers would refuse outright to race it if it were switched to night. Monaco's a death trap in broad daylight. o_O

Singapore might work out though, we'll wait and see

To your other points, Hamilton's got to have a poor race at some point, but til then, the tension at McLaren could get very heated. Alonso's chuckin' his toys out the pram because he's not been best driver in his team for two races. Pfeh. I hear though that the row's been quieted Might just all blow over.

And the Senna thing did lead to a welcome tightening of regulations. No-one deserves to die that way, not in a sport. He was nearing the end of his career maybe, but it's a sad end to a brilliant sportsman. I'm glad safety's been a priority since.

Well it wasnt to long ago someone was killed in a G.P
Monza one year where a track guy was whacked by a tyre from a crash in the first chicane.
If this was >1994 it would of been a lot less safe... Glad to see Kubica is ok, pity he has to take a break for a while to keep it from aggrivating the injury

Senna accident should never be replicated
Monaco would be a good night race but they do need to work out lighting in every part of the track, what I was think was a day/night race, it would start so that half way through it would get dark... but the night rules is really for the european audience (Japanese=5am)

Speaking of circuits
French G.P is disappearing/Moving circuits (paris street race?)
San Marino is out for a bit
Spanish is Moving to Valencia (Race or Street Circuit)
Japanese is moved to the Fuji Track (I've played it on Gran Turismo 4, looks like a really high speed straight with some nice corners with it)
Singapore (Night race?)
A few more asian countries want to be in it... But they should really scatt
