Golf - Whats the point?

Honestly. I live across the stream from a big Golf Course, and even on a horridly windy, or even rainy day, I can always see at least one moron out there, whacking a ball around.

Whats the POINT?!

Said moron goes out, hits a golf ball after the umpteenth time of missing, and beans another person in the head - only for the moron to curse at the other guy for blocking his 'perfect' hit.

'Course, then there's the people who are GOOD at golf O_o Their take on this thread might be different

Because people like it. It's a sport where u can relax and just hit a ball. No tackling or kicking. Old people like to play because it's very easy for them. A sport for leisure. Business men use golf as a way to make deals with other businesses. Sort of like horse racing. Some mathematicians like it cause u have to calculate, wind speed and such,and then hit the ball. Professionals play cuz if they hit the ball into the hole and win a tournament they win how much cash....Tiger Woods has how much money now..

The purpose of golf is to have rich, middle aged men who can't do a single push up, be able to claim they are playing a sport And an excuse to get drunk at the clubhouse after playing a round

Golf is actually pretty fun. You just have to play around and try to hit the cart thats picking up the balls.

once I play mini-golf and hit my golf ball so hard it went out to the parking lot
then i hit a car with it the second time.

golf requires a good bit of at least upper body strength, a reasonable amount of skill to get anywhere, and a hefty slice of luck.

Getting a hole-in-one must be breath-taking for a golfer. They come along relatively rarely. You can score tap-ins in footie, but it takes real skill to drive a forty-yarder through a field of defenders and send it screaming into the top corner. Same with golf. You could play perfectly level par and be happy, but you knock a couple of shots off your card with a birdie or two, or smack an expertly-crafted albatross has got to be the equivalent of a forty yard screamer in footie.

Golf has a lot of things going for it.

Sadly, it's a good walk spoiled and it was invented or at least popularised by Scots.

Simple, if you compete in a tournament you can't always expect Non-windy sunny stale days. Of couse, they probably do cancel tournaments due to showers,etc. (I'm not sure on this, but I don't see why they wouldn't) so like Lonely said, people just like playing golf.
