bwahahaha!

* wålf-kun is crossing off Selo's and Åsna's name on list: "members fooled..."

No, I am sorry if I mislead you, but I think I wrote quite clearly that these were the teams qualifying from the previous group stage, even listing what groups the different teams came from (two teams from the same group would never play each other in the first knock-out round)

That's what you get for not paying attention (and cheering for Arsenal, I'm pretty sure ). Thanks for your predictions though, it's always interesting to see what teams people put their hopes into...

I will post the matches as well as soon as they're announced.... (and I log on...)

hinarei is a splendid one to behold

just goes to show how many people really pay attention round here, don't it, wolf?

Be a good draw though, I reckon. None of those teams is an easy prospect or an enticing trip. Should be interesting to see how the thing pans out...

Four English teams through the group stage again o_O

meh, that would be any fun! The trick is making it look like something it's not - e.g. I make it look like a set of matches, when it's really just a list of teams

Yeah... And these are supposed to be the football fans of this forum?

I'll give it to you English - your club football's probably the best in Europe right now (could say something about your national team though, but let's not ). Spain and Italy both got 3 teams as well...

Wonder how it'll look in the semi-finals, last year it was 3 English teams and non of then succeeded in winning...

tadah!

The draw was just a little while ago, and the matches of the first knock-out round are:

Celtic - Barcelona
Lyon - Manchester United
Schalke 04 - FC Porto
Liverpool - Inter
Roma - Real Madrid
Arsenal - AC Milan
Olympiakos - Chelsea
Fenerbache - Sevilla

they first leg will be played 19./20. February with return matches 4./5. March.

Now you guys can go ahead and make your prediction!

My guess (list of winners):
Barcelona
Manchester United
FC Porto
Liverpool (Some love might have blurred my vision here, but we'll see)
Real Madrid
AC Milan (hard one...)
Chelsea
Sevilla

Ok, real predictions this time

Celtic vs Barcelona:
I think this is a rather one way match, Barcelona will win this probably like 4-1 on the aggregate.

Lyon vs Man Utd:
Close match, Man utd will win with like a 1 or 2 goal difference I think.

Schalke 04 vs Porto
A Meh match in my book. Could go to either, probably Porto

Liverpool vs Inter
Ah, very interesting matchup. Id prefer if Liverpool won, but I think Inter will take this one

Roma vs Real Madrid
Interesting match as well, Madrid will win this most probably

Arsenal vs AC Milan
Great games these will be, Milan will win this probably like 1-0 or 2-1 on the aggregate

Olympiakos vs Chelsea
Eh, greece teams never really do much . Chelski!

Fehnerbache vs Sevilla
I think this will be easy too, in favour of Sevilla

OK, first round with 4 matches just finished!

Schalke - Porto 1 - 0
Roma - R.Madrid 2 - 1
Olympiakos - Chelsea 0 - 0
Liverpool - Inter 2 - 0

largest surprise to me is Olympiakos managing 0-0 against Chelski! I haven't seen the match, though, so I don't know if they deserve it Also, LFC 2-0 Inter was wonderful

4 more matches tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to the return matches!

PS: Seems like we pretty much agree on the winners

Betong Åsna is a jewel in the rough
Now let's see you do that without the huge slice of luck from the referee - the same referee who presided over Juve's half-dead performance at Anfield in 2005, believe it or not!

well, yes, the referee was obviously bought or something! just the way he ignored some of those hands that should've been a penalty for sure! or wait? other way, you say?

And I'm really looking forward to seeing Everton in action tomorrow then... but hey?? wait, I can't see they've got a match tomorrow? and they didn't play today... that could only mean... aaaah... suckage team, right!

No Champions League matches being played on Thursday, methinks?
