old comp
i finally got my old comp working after a couple years of sitting in a corner gathering dust... but it wont play my fav games like Halo, kotor, etc can anyone here help me... i got a darn good graphics card though

Care to name the specs of the compy? And perhaps a reason why it wouldn't work anymore?

it kinda works, it plays 4 games. its a dell like windows xp, sound doesnt work and somethins wrong with the graphics card

Or save money and other nonsense... PC gaming is nearly dead...

I had a problem with sound at one point when my other computer crashed, I had to reinstall and get the drivers for the sound. Graphics card will probably need replacement. How much RAM do you have?

Why do you want to salvage it? I mean, it's pretty old...right. I mean, it probably doesn't meet the minimum specifications to run games like halo. The processor probably can't handle it and it doesn't have enough RAM. actualy... i have halo 1 for it and it ran perfectly when it worked... and my comp has 2 graphics cards, i just found that out. and now all i got to do is reinstall 'em, the soundcards, etc and because i dont have teh money to buy parts to build my own, (im too lazy anyway) but ill be sure to check those sites...

It doesn't take that long. you can do it sitting down pretty much.
 Start saving and in a couple months you can buy the parts you need to build a computer. So much cheaper than buying a computer when you buy the parts separately. And you can avoid the ebilness of Vista.

Perhaps a tip for other people with old pc's.. If you wanna know which games it can run, add specs.
'Old pc' is a really whide term. Especially when you think about it. I've got several 'old pc's' 486 SX (25 Mhz) <- Ish oldest 486 DX (50 Mhz) Pentium 1 (133 Mhz) Pentuim 3 (450 Mhz) Pentium 4 (3 Ghz (2 CPU's but I don't know if they both have 3 Ghz or they both add up to 3 Ghz) <- me thinks up till here ish 'old' Intel Centrino (2X 1.66 Ghz (laptop)) <- ish newest
