Holden Caulfield is just really nice
Intel Versus AMD? ??

I work in a horrible retail store in a copy center and on occasion I get plucked from my home behind the counter to sell technology. One of the questions I'm often faced with is which processor a customer should choose when buying laptop/desktop.

I don't know why, but anyway, I've always had this vendetta against Intel. I don't know why, maybe it was those creepy commercials...But in every computer I have, I have an AMD processor.

Any opinions on which dual core technology is better. Reasons and evidence would be appreciated.

Z is a glorious beacon of light
You must have something against those Blue Man Group dudes....

I've heard Intel's processors don't eat up power as quickly....

Keiranto has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I'm a big AMD fan, mainly because i like 64 bit procassors, and AMD's 64bit chips are much better than intels

Mr.Anderson is a jewel in the rough
All I know is that the new Intel Centrino processors consume less power then older processors and many of the competition (good for laptops)
And the best Intel currently has to offer for desktops are the Core 2 Extreme processors. (good for Highdefenition playback, great surroundsound support, all while multitasking.)

Though all I know of AMd processors is that (back around the year 2000 anyway) AMD processors where cheaper and gave better preformance, but I don't know how it is these days.

Ok, I just looked up a few interesting articles about AMD vs Intel and came to this conclusion.

Intel's Core 2 Duo E6400 vs AMD's Athlon 64 X2 5600

AMD + 10 EU = +200 Mhz
AMD better compressing (rar files and the like) and photoshop (due to intergrated memory in the CPU)
Intel less powerconsumption during high and medium preformance
AMD less power consumptuin during no and small preformance
Intel best for coding and transcoding video and audio

All in all, I think AMD wins.

that's my current CPU

I've also often wondered about the difference between AMD and Intel, and truth to be told I tend to pick AMD because it's usually cheaper than comparable Intel models. Intel supposedly works better in high temperatures, though.
