Apple? Cor!
I've been thinking for a long while about getting an Apple system. I'm more or less set on a MacBook Pro, cos I've no room for a desktop, so a laptop is my only option if I want one ^^

The only real thing that's put me off has been the price so far, but I've been saving and want to nab one.

Any suggestions for software I should load onto it? Any tips and tricks you may have found that might help someone with no experience of the system to get on?

For me that's a big factor...

have Linux... well, some flavours.

I have Knoppix, SUSE, and Ubuntu SO I'm getting used to it. I want to have a crack at the Mac OS too...

got to get BootCamp going too I've heard good things about it. I'll be needing a copy of VMWare an' all...

there is no such thing as right click.

Macs are really nice, but DON'T GO CHEAP. I highly reccomend Photoshop, Corel, Corq, or any other file manipulation program. Ahh, any of those on a Mac would be nice 8)

all I'm shooting for straight off is the base laptop with whatever comes on it, and a wireless setup Imma save up for the other progs.

I've always wanted to get all my boxes connected, and I've been wanting to get an Apple, so may as well get an AirPort too, while I'm at it ^^

Who said there's no right click with a mac?
I'm quite happy with my Ibook, but since i mostly use it as a media PC, there's not much in terms of software that i can recommend, all depends on what you wanna do with the box in question i guess.

I use Parallels Desktop rather than VMware. It slows down my MacBook a fair bit though, so I was going to try VMware when I get hold of Leopard. Don't get Windows Media Player. Try aMSN for an MSN client with actual features, Colloquy (free) or Snak (shareware) for IRC. Codecs are easy to come by, and when people say videos don't play on Mac they need slapping.

And who says there's no right click?

Its the truth though . Id say you should only get a mac if you're planning on doing multimedia editing/authoring hinarei(you should do a new naru amv ), if you're not doing this, its pretty much a waste, really.

well, I dont know about leopard, but OSX was based on unix, so unix programs should work, I know there are utilities out theere to ensure that almost all linux programs run on OSX

I'm thinking of building myself a hackintosh when I cam be bothered to download the intel leopard torrent....

I don't want to do that I will still be running Windows on a separate comp, so why the hassle?

Parallels might be worth a tote, but I'll start off with VMWare first, as I'm used to it ^^ I will try and get editing software for it, selo (maybe some point in the future... the initial hit on the pocket will be too great to get anything for a little while ) so I'll see how I can get it working ^_^

Thanks guys! I look forward to more recommendations if you got 'em

Reckon I'll get on with Finder and Safari, considering I struggle to use a compy if there's no Windows key?
