The Hiatus thread

I noticed lately that there are a lot of people making threads every time they go away for a short period of time...

Of course, it would be best to inform people that you are going to be away, so that nobody will wonder why you're suddenly gone. But making a whole thread just because you're going to be away for, say, 3 days, is too much...


Therefore, I now create this thread in order to solve this problem. If you are going to be going away for a period of one week or less (Length still debatable), then post your reason, and how long you are going to be away, in this thread.

Of course, you shouldn't obviously abuse this thread. If you are going to be away for obvious reasons (like sleep), then don't post here anymore.

If you are going to be away for longer than a week, that's when it would be okay to make a thread.

Also, could a moderator please sticky this, so that every member would be able to see this and know where to post if they are going to be away for only a short period of time.

Seriously though, this needed doing. I'm so fed up of people posting stupid absences. Unfortunately, I reckon the majority of people who do - without meaning any slur on their character - are more likely just after the attention that comes with a 'THIS IS ALL ABOUT ME" kind of thread than actually intending to usefully inform people where they're going.

Don't overestimate how much people will miss you if you go for a day.

Okay, from now on, I'm just going to lock all silly absence threads.

Anyway, this is a good idea... I'll have to REMEMBER to use it when I (inevitably) dissappear again.

As for now, the trend is that I'm out the weekends. Yay Work~!
This week will be slow for me too, as it's Thanksgiving Break from school... And I'll be spending most time at work or with friends.
(IE, not holed up in front of a computer. )

People do like to be kept informed. You miss people when they're not on at their normal times and things, so an absence thread might be good

It wasnt aimed at you mandi. Its for those threads that people create when they're going to be absent for the weekend or for a couple of days. Yours was alright, since supposedly you were leaving forever.

Seeing as though it's Tuesday... And I dont have school Wednesday - Sunday due to Thanksgiving Break...
...I'll probably not be around much after tonight.

I'll pop in occasionally when I have time, but I work doubles Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday... And the nights are gathering times with friends...
...so, yeah.
