Try Mario Galaxy, excellent, nothing better than that. (not a big fan of new super mario bros wii)

That's 3D though, isn't it? Not proper platforming![]()

Pfft. Proper platforming is always 2D![]()

2D platforming works: Run. Jump, Hit an obstacle. Beat the problem. Repeat until you've reached our goal. 3D just isn't right
Sonic, Lost Vikings, Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, DuckTales, Golden Axe, even the Lion King and Aladdin games... all would be needlessly complicated in 3D, and have had their heyday in 2D. Mario hasn't had a heyday so isn't worthy of mention
The Simpsons and Turtles arcade scrollers were two of the best games I've ever played. 2D side scrollers, based on 2D media![]()
Yeh. Just cos 3D has one more D, doesn't necessarily make it any better. It's not too hard to grasp![]()

Megaman = best 2d platforming of all of them...I think so at least. I mean contra and Ninja Gaiden are also good but megaman(including X series) have just been my personal fav.

I think we're covering old ground hereI remember a similar thread (perhaps a poll) back on CIEI
'course, that was back when selo contributed anything
Good god, them was the days, eh? Been a while.

Quite so. It seems like for 3D games to be playable, often there has to be a lot of help given to the player which does seem to make them easy.

I'd rather kiss a fat balding Italian plumberand believe me, that was hard enough to type >_<
2D will always be better than 3D in platforming terms. No getting away from it ^_^
Any news from Needlemouse?

Off camera video of Sonic 4 showing the Splash Hill Zone:
The video also shows the names of 3 other zones (Lost Labyrinth Zone, Casino Street Zone, Mad Gear Zone as well as a Special Stage) Is this the full list for episode one?
Also, a page on the XBox page states that the developer is DIMPS (responsible for Sonic Advance and the Sonic Rush games under the Sonic Team name.)
[Temp old sig until I can be bothered making a new one]

Woah. o_O Thank you for that. I'm liking what I see already!
Splash Hill... can you say Emerald Hill Zone? They even kept the first vertical
I can't wait to play the Mad Gear Zone
Best thing to catch my eye on there was the splash for the level start and the opening title screen. A dash (pardon the pun) of Sonic 3, but boy, does this bring back memories of Sonic 2sday

I'm thinking you mean Green Hill, hina?
Sounds like the tried and tested Green, water, casino, mecha mix of levels! Gotta love it![]()

Yeah, I love the traditional title screen, finger wagging and all ^_^

no, Emerald, cos I'm trying to draw parallels with Sonic 2, not STHMaybe it puts me in mind of Green too, now I think about it
That same vert was in both games...?
Mad Gear sounds like a mix between Mystic Cave and Metropolis, like the 2-player level on Sonic 3 (Chrome Gadget)![]()
I love how this is starting outTraditional title screen takes me back... 19 65 9 17 C START
