What I know is that it's not gonna go so well if they do the same thing they did with Sonic Rush or Sonic Advanced... Sonic games are not just about "speed", which really is a common misconception. If you want speed, you must earn it... anyone who has played the third level of Sonic 2 knows what I am talking about getting to and staying on the top part of the level is really challenging

I always love trying out all three heights on acts that have them. Up on the platforms at the top, avoiding drops into nothing off the bottom, or just trying to keep your bearings with all the badniks in the middle. Always fun! Especially when each section is rewarded with its own Big Ring, like in Mushroom Hill. I could get a time over in there trying to find my way far enough back to repeat the act on 3 different routes.

wise not to judge the game yet. You can't really do that til you've played it through, so best to wait

Aquatic Ruin Zone, you mean? that was a good one, with an inventive boss at the end. It was a right pain keeping up top in that one, but the lower level was a push too, avoiding the rising purple

yeah, you had to get a wriggle on to try all the routes in one go. The lower route in Mushroom Hill was easiest if I recall, but each one had awkward challenges to get through. Strangely for a 'hill' level, it was massive and intricate and you could lose yourself quite easily

That'd be cos it obviously designed as a mid-game level. It was friendlier than Launch Base, but didn't want to go right back to Angel Island difficulty.

Sonic's popular, believe it but only the earlier incarnations for me. The "Adventure" series and the 3D offerings mostly left me cold.

Launch Base was a bit of a git, wasn't it? Hardest level in all the Sonic games, anyone? (Not Launch Base, just asking the question in general )

Lava Reef! Act 1 was horrendously long, with far too much lava and not enough reef. Act 2 was just ... pure ... hellfire.

Also Death Egg à la Sonic & Knuckles, but I somehow tend to discount that as a zone. It seems more like a whole boss level before the real boss level. Unless you're Tails. Then it's just the boss level.

It irked me that Tails never got out of the Death Egg... But then, I guess only one character could do the whole Doomsday bit Man, that was a tasty, if easy level Death Egg S&K had great music, great design and evil, evil traps. Worthy of being a final level to any game

Lava Reef I thought Knuckles had it tough on Sandopolis, all the tunnelling and such, but where this got really rock hard (if you'll pardon the pun) was with Tails... poor little guy, I struggled more on this with him than with any other char/pairing. Huge level too, by all accounts. Am I right in saying it's the longest level in any Sonic game thus far?

For me, toughest level of all was in Sonic 1, and it's a tough choice between Scrap Brain Act 3 and Labyrinth... AAAARGH waterslides.

Argh Scrap Brain 3 ... damned lack of bubbles!

Actually, you know what was the hardest level of all? Hidden Palace Zone with Knuckles...

oh my word. That level was brilliant. An excellently-paced test of skill with a cavernously excruciating learning curve right near the end. Simply couldn't beat that boss... A terror.

Did you guys ever get extremely desperate in the puzzle right before the end of the dark carnival zone? Q_Q

Or at the seemingly endless slide at Sandopolis?

Did you ever cry when hearing the drowning music?

Hmmm... hardest level.. I think that would be Death Egg in Sonic 2... two hard consecutive bosses. The second is a giant enemy boss, and you have to attack its weak point, for minimal damage!

That was just time consuming and repetitive, the Sonic 2 Death Egg. For a challenge, kill it on it's second appearance!

I love all of the Sonic Games (Minus Mean Bean Machine and Spinball, of course ), Im quite excited about this! Really, Sonic games are all I play besides a few others here and there. Even though I loved all of the 2D games, I still think Sonic Adventure was phenomenal. I would perfer them to make another Sonic Adventure-like game, but I grew up with the 2D ones and Ill always be a total sucker for them. For all I know they have made another Sonic Adventure-like game, the last game system I bought besides a DS was a Gamecube, and I have been totally out of the loop!

Oh, by the way, Eggman is utterly stupid. His name is Robotnik, damnit!

I like that they still occasionally call him Robotnik, just so we know that Eggman is just a very frequently-used nickname.

it's just an affectation then? More like an insult? So his song "I am the Eggman!" was just a tongue-in-cheek parody, broadcast to all of Mobius so they know theyir glorious dictator can in fact laugh at himself?

    It's all falling into place

Well, he is the one that named all his shit with the word "egg" in it. Death Egg, and, umm, ok.
